Hernandarias: Costanera on Lake ITAIPU and Guaraní Culture
Accommodation in Hernandarias
Playa Tacuru Pucu gives Hernandarias a tangible connection to the water: this renovated, publicly accessible area is part of Parque Tacuru Pucu on the Costanera and lies on the shore of Lake ITAIPU. The beach is 450 meters long and 80 meters wide. These measurements give a clear sense of its size; at the same time, the park and lake firmly place this spot in Hernandarias.
The Costanera and Outdoor Activities
The Costanera de Hernandarias features a 2,100-meter-long cycle path, as well as walking paths for walking, jogging and strolling. This brings together different ways to get active: the cycle path has a specified length, while the walking paths are described by their various uses. If you are planning time outdoors, you can include these activities as separate items in your daily itinerary.
Parque Tacuru Pucu also brings together several recreational options. Its facilities include sports courts for soccer, volleyball and beach tennis, playgrounds and outdoor fitness equipment. Along with the cycle path and walking paths, the options range from sports to a leisurely stroll. Playa Tacuru Pucu is a separate, publicly accessible area within the park; its dimensions and location on Lake ITAIPU give it a distinct character from the paths and sports facilities.
History and Regional Identity
The Museo ITAIPU – Tierra Guaraní is dedicated to the history, biodiversity and regional identity associated with the Río Paraná. Educational exhibitions and interpretive offerings make these subjects a cultural counterpart to Hernandarias’ waterfront and outdoor spaces. If you want to understand the region not only through its landscape but also through its history and nature, the museum offers a dedicated way to explore these topics.

The Monumento also offers guided, interpretive walks to explore the local flora and fauna; camping is also possible. Public access is subject to partial authorization. Therefore, confirm current access arrangements before visiting.
