Discover Maipú Department
Accommodation in Maipú Department
In Maipú Department, wine, olive oil, and cultural sites offer different highlights for a trip. The Wine Route extends across the entire department; historic buildings, public art, and event venues add to the picture. When planning your hotel and trip, it helps to distinguish first between visiting a business and attending a scheduled cultural event. Check current programs, visitor arrangements, and, where applicable, reservation requirements in advance.
Wine Route, Wineries, and Olive Oil
More than 40 wineries in the department are open to tourism. There are also eight olive oil producers, whose products are enjoyed by tourists and locals alike. The Maipú Wine Route extends across the entire department. Wine and olive oil thus stand as two distinct highlights. These figures may change; check the latest information and, where applicable, reservation requirements before planning specific visits.
At Bodegas López, visitors can observe the production of Federico López sparkling wines using the Champenoise method and the production of Montchenot, López, and Mont Reims using the Charmat method, as well as explore the model vineyards. Olivícola Laur offers guided tours of the Acetaia and olive oil production, accompanied by specialist guides and sommeliers. The visitor experiences therefore differ considerably: López focuses on production methods and model vineyards, while Laur offers guided tours of its Acetaia and oil production. Details of visits may change.
Cultural Sites and Architectural History
The Museo del Vino at Bodegas La Rural in Maipú was declared a site of tourist interest in 1990. Paseo de los Eucaliptus is designated as cultural and forestry heritage of Maipú Department. The two sites offer different highlights: the museum connects Maipú with wine culture, while the paseo is designated as cultural and forestry heritage.
Cine Teatro Imperial Maipú is an Art Deco building dating from 1934. After a heritage restoration, it reopened on June 6, 2013. Today, the theater offers cinema, music, theater, and other events; a variety of live artistic performances take place every week. Check the current program if you are planning a visit.
The Museo Nacional del Vino y la Vendimia has also hosted events: by June 2026, the cultural program “Mitos Cuyanos” had reached its third edition and was held there. The 2026 Vendimia calendar included twelve celebrations in individual districts, leading up to the departmental Vendimia. These details refer to the respective programs for 2026.
Plazas, Art, and Events
The recreational area at Plaza 12 de Febrero covers more than 2,000 square meters and features inclusive play equipment. Six sculptures of Mafalda and her friends stand along the promenade. They pay tribute to the character created by Mendoza-born artist Quino. The plaza thus brings together a recreational area and public art in one place.
At Teatro Griego Papa Francisco, an event held as part of the 2026 summer program brought together more than 30 wine and olive oil producers, with tastings and talks on offer. A music series in the same summer program featured bands from Mendoza performing outdoors. Both examples show different event formats and should not be confused with the regular offerings at Cine Teatro Imperial.
Planning Your Trip
The municipal tourism map of Maipú was published in July 2026 and included more than 200 listings across the entire department. If you use the map to plan, check the information before visiting specific places: its content and distribution may change.
If you are planning a visit, current schedules, visitor details, and reservation requirements can help you tailor your travel plans.
