Accommodation in Los Árboles
The Río Tunuyán and the old railway station represent two different sides of Los Árboles: a vast, open river landscape and the town’s economic history. Local festivals and cultural events held at different times of the year add to the picture. If you’re looking for hotels for a trip to Los Árboles, these themes can help you decide whether you’re more interested in the scenery, the town’s history, or cultural events.
River scenery and bridge
At Los Árboles, the Río Tunuyán offers a view of a long, wide riverbed stretching beyond the horizon. It can also be dry; both conditions are part of the landscape. In the Departamento de Rivadavia, which includes Los Árboles, the Río Tunuyán is the only permanent watercourse. This places the river in its regional context.
The bridge over the Río Tunuyán connects Los Árboles with the district of Reducción. It also offers a particularly good view of the stretch of river that passes through the town. The bridge provides two distinct points of interest: it links the town to Reducción and opens up a view of the riverside landscape. As you explore the town, you can take in the broad riverbed and this particular vantage point as experiences in their own right.
Railway history and preserved buildings
The old railway station in Los Árboles is an emblematic building from the town’s period of economic development. The San Martín Railway used to stop there. During the economic boom, the station was a central hub for freight and passenger traffic. Its history thus links rail travel with the exchange of goods and the transport of people. The station is in good condition; check its status before visiting.
Another preserved building is the former schoolhouse, known as the home of Vicente Lombardo, which still stands in Los Árboles. The station and the former schoolhouse offer different ways to connect with the town’s history: one recalls the freight and passenger traffic of the past, while the other is a building that once served as a school. If you’re interested in history and architecture, these offer different aspects of the town to explore.
Festivals and cultural events
Folklore peñas are held in Los Árboles at various times throughout the year and are organized by the club or the chapel committee. In February, the feast day of the patron saint, Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, is celebrated each year. A communal meal and artistic performances follow. Several festivals are also held at the end of the harvest season, with many residents taking part.
These events take place at different times: the patron saint’s feast day is in February, the peñas are held at various times throughout the year, and the harvest festivals follow the end of the harvest season. If you’d like to plan your trip around a particular celebration, check the dates in advance.
Los Árboles also had a queen in the 2025 district Vendimia celebration. The 2025 municipal cultural program listed a folklore workshop for young people and adults at Club Los Árboles.
