Godoy Cruz offers a range of themes to help you plan your stay: cycling, railway and wine history, art and dining.

Cycling in Godoy Cruz

A specific starting point for your plans is the six-kilometer cycling route connecting Parque Estación Benegas with the border of Capital at Calle Moreno.

En la Bici also offers a free public bicycle-sharing system for residents and tourists. Stations are located in Mendoza and Godoy Cruz; bicycles can be picked up at one station and returned to the nearest station at your destination. Registration requirements may change, so check them before using the service. The cycling route and the bike-sharing system offer different options: one is a clearly defined connection, while the other lets you rent a bicycle from a station and return it to another station.

Park and family activities

Parque Estación Benegas serves as a sports and recreation park. It also hosts artistic events such as concerts and craft fairs. The Estación de Niñas y Niños in the park offers families theater performances, interactive games and various workshops, including painting. The same named park thus brings together leisure and sports, as well as culture and activities for families.

Railway and wine history

The Museo Ferroviario de Godoy Cruz presents the railway history of Mendoza Province and Godoy Cruz. This includes the development of various rail lines, stations and services, with particular attention to the Ferrocarril Trasandino. If you are interested in transport history, the museum offers a thematic look at the development of rail transport in the region.

Architecture and wine history are also part of the cityscape. Bodega Caro is located in an 1884 building with distinctive exposed-brick architecture in the center of Godoy Cruz. The grounds of the historic Bodega Arizu include an architectural complex designated as National Historic Heritage. The winery operated there for almost a century; a tour tells its story and that of other wine families of Godoy Cruz.

Parroquia San Vicente Ferrer is one of the most representative religious buildings in Godoy Cruz and is located at Lavalle 60. Its three-aisled interior features a characteristic of classical French Gothic architecture. Cine Teatro Plaza was declared heritage of the Departamento de Godoy Cruz on May 11, 2017. Together, these buildings offer different ways to explore the religious, architectural and cultural history.

Art and nature in the Departamento de Godoy Cruz

The Encuentro Latinoamericano de Muralismo y Arte Publico has been held in the Departamento de Godoy Cruz since 2009. Its eight editions to date have left more than 250 murals; under municipal ordinance 6119/12, Godoy Cruz is recognized as an open-air museum. The Centro Patrimonial Artístico Cristoforo Colombo adds to this cultural offering with contemporary art interventions and performances, which are paired with free workshops. The schedule of activities and workshops may change.

The Piedemonte of Godoy Cruz is considered a tourist, ecological, sports and educational zone. A municipal special nature conservation zone in the Piedemonte is assigned to the municipality. At elevations of 1,200 meters above sea level and higher, mountain biking, mountaineering, hiking, trekking, birdwatching and recreation are possible, provided the activities pose no risk to the ecosystem.

Dining as another focus

Avenida San Martín and San Martín Sur are considered gastronomic hubs of Godoy Cruz. Dining options there include prepared dishes, international cuisine and simple quick meals. You can also plan your day around the kind of food you are looking for.
