Ciudad Perico: Carnival, Culture and Culinary Delights
Accommodation in Ciudad Perico
Ciudad Perico combines a strong carnival culture with cultural and culinary events. In Perico, carnival, religious celebrations, concerts, regional products and business events offer a range of reasons to visit.
Carnival and Patron Saint Festival
Perico has several generations of comparsas and is considered one of the centers of carnival in the Valles and Jujuy Province. The 2025 Carnaval program was scheduled to run for ten days, with 25 local and invited groups and comparsas set to perform each evening. Admission was free. Families could also attend the Sunday Corso events free of charge.
The Festival a San José offers a different focus. The two-day 2022 edition took place as part of the patron saint celebrations in honor of Saint Joseph. The program included local and provincial artists, as well as a special performance by Sergio Galleguillo. As part of the festival program, the procession in honor of Saint Joseph led to the restored image of the saint at the entrance to the city, where an oratory was inaugurated.
Concerts and Cultural Heritage
In its 2025 edition, the Capillas Musicales program highlighted the city’s cultural heritage with concerts at notable venues. A free public concert took place on Juan Bautista Alberdi Street, opposite Plaza San Martín. While the Carnaval program included evening performances by numerous groups and comparsas, Capillas Musicales focused on concerts at notable venues.
Regional Products and Culinary Events
On May 22, 2026, the “Regiones Vivas” Expo-Feria Productiva was held in the parking area of the Polo Comercial y Cultural de Perico. It showcased the productivity, crafts and wine-making of Jujuy’s four regions. More than 300 producers and entrepreneurs took part in the Perico edition; over 150 local business owners also participated.
Frutillazo 2026 brings together producers, entrepreneurs, artisans and families to celebrate Perico’s productive and culinary identity. Strawberries are among the products given special prominence. The Festival del Disco de Arado also has a culinary focus: at the 2026 edition, all the food will be cooked on iron. The program also includes live painting by 15 visual artists, local ballet groups and folk music.
