La Cumbrecita offers several distinct starting points for planning your trip: Cerro Wank and its panoramic views, other hiking trails, and the central streets that visitors can explore on foot. You can tailor your hotel search to the themes you want to shape your stay.

Hiking and views in La Cumbrecita

From the summit of Cerro Wank, at an altitude of 1,620 metres, you can see the area around La Cumbrecita, the course of the Sierras Grandes, extensive forests and various places in the Valle de Calamuchita. The trail begins at a small wooden bridge over the Arroyo Almbach, opposite the traditional ConfiterĂa Liesbeth, and climbs through dense birch and pine forest. The ascent leads through woodland, while the summit opens up views across several parts of the landscape.

More than ten hiking trails run through La Cumbrecita and its surroundings. If you do not want to choose just one summit as your point of reference, you can include the wider selection of trails in your trip plans. Another distinctive name is Cerro Cristal: numerous quartz crystal rocks give the hill its name. Wank represents the summit views described above, while Cerro Cristal is known for its characteristic rock formation—two different aspects of the landscape.

Explore the village on foot

La Cumbrecita is a pedestrian village in the Departamento Calamuchita. Visitors can park at the municipal car park at the entrance to the village and then explore the central streets on foot. This complements the hiking trails with another way to get around: while the trail to Cerro Wank climbs through birch and pine forest, the focus in the centre is on the village streets. Bear this distinction in mind when deciding which experiences you want to shape your stay.

The Departamento Calamuchita as a wider setting

The broader destination of Departamento Calamuchita also has its own landscape highlights. Cerro Champaquí is 2,790 metres high, the highest peak in the province of Córdoba, and lies on the border between the departamentos of Calamuchita and San Javier. Together with Cerro Wank, at 1,620 metres, it offers two different ways to explore the region’s high-altitude landscape: Champaquí is the province’s highest peak, while Wank opens up views of the area around La Cumbrecita, the Sierras Grandes, forests and places in the Valle de Calamuchita.

In Villa General Belgrano, you can explore Paseo de los Arroyos on foot or by bicycle along the El Molle, El Sauce and La Toma streams. The town also hosts the National Beer Festival (Oktoberfest) and the National Viennese Pastry Festival. Villa General Belgrano is also known for craft-brewed beer, Viennese cakes and pastries, Alpine chocolate, and regional specialities made by local producers. These examples give the wider area a cultural and culinary dimension that differs from the hiking and viewpoint themes of La Cumbrecita.

Another landscape highlight of Departamento Calamuchita is Embalse RĂo Tercero. At 5,600 hectares, it is the largest artificial lake in the province of CĂłrdoba. Activities at Lake Embalse de Calamuchita include pejerrey fishing, swimming, motorboating, rowing, canoeing and scuba diving. When choosing your destination, you can therefore weigh up whether you mainly want to explore the trails and viewpoints in La Cumbrecita or also take in the cultural, culinary and water-based attractions of Departamento Calamuchita.
