Reta offers two specific coastal features to consider when planning your trip: the Albufera de Reta and wide, natural beaches. Also of note are shipwreck remains that predate the town’s founding in 1930, and the Fiesta del Pueblo, which celebrates the town anniversary. The area can therefore be understood through its natural environment, beaches and various connections to local history. If you’re looking for hotels for your stay, this overview can help you first weigh up the character of the destination.

Lagoon, Beach and Nature

The Albufera de Reta is a coastal lagoon of salt and fresh water, separated from the sea by a sandy spit. Since 2004, it has been the first protected area in the Partido de Tres Arroyos. Its coastal formation and protected-area status are two important features of this natural environment.

The Albufera Reta is a habitat where a freshwater lagoon drains into the sea via the “El Gaucho” stream. Land mammals, marine animals and birds can be found there. The water connection and the animal groups are distinct but complementary aspects of the landscape: one describes the flow of water, while the others describe the animal groups found there.

Reta is one of the three seaside resorts in Tres Arroyos, alongside ClaromecĂł and Orense, and has wide, natural beaches. Unlike the description of the Albufera, which focuses on water and drainage, the beaches are notable above all for their width and natural character. This gives you two distinct coastal features to consider when choosing a destination: the lagoon environment and the beach landscape.

Local History and Events

At Barco Hundido in Reta, there are shipwreck remains that were already there before the town was founded in 1930. They therefore predate the town’s founding and add a specific historical point of reference to the landscape features.

Reta celebrates its town anniversary with the Fiesta del Pueblo. The event includes a fair featuring craftspeople and producers from Reta and the surrounding region. The Fiesta thus combines the anniversary celebration with handicrafts and regional production. If the event matters to your travel plans, check the dates in advance.
