There are several specific reasons to visit Napaleofú: the traditional fun run “Napa vuelve a correr,” Gaucho and folklore events, religious connections, and the railway station’s former role. Which of these matters to you depends on whether you want to take part on a particular date, are interested in a festival program, or want local history to be part of your trip.

A fun run with three distances

“Napa vuelve a correr” is a traditional, recurring fun run in Napaleofú, organized by the “El Fogón” club. At the 2026 edition on September 26, participants could choose from 15-, 8-, and 5-kilometer routes. The 5-kilometer route was offered to walkers as a non-timed option. The available options therefore differ both in distance and in the walking category: those considering the shorter route will find an explicitly non-timed option for walkers.

The 2026 participant package included a T-shirt, drinks, fruit, and a finisher’s medal. Ambulance assistance, participant insurance, and a warm-up program were also included. These details refer to the September 2026 edition. If the run is the reason for your trip, check the date and details for the particular edition when planning.

Gaucho and folklore events

At the 16th Gaucho and Folklore Gathering in Napaleofú, institutions, groups connected to local traditions, and riders paraded through Plaza San Martín in the morning in 2022. A shared meal featuring typical dishes was planned for lunchtime. The program described therefore included both a morning parade and a separate lunchtime event.

In December 2024, on the occasion of Napaleofú’s 110th anniversary, the “El Fogón” club was honored for its long-standing contribution to the town’s cultural life. The anniversary program also featured popular music by “El Fogón.” The club is thus connected with both the fun run and the town’s cultural life; the specific festival and program details vary by occasion and edition.

Chapel and religious connections

A municipal report dated December 16, 2024, identified Father Julio Maña as the head of the Capilla Santa María del Pilar de Napaleofú. A holy mass celebrated by Father Hernán Gómez Siez at the Capilla de Napaleofú was also reported in July 2026. These details relate to specific religious events and dates. The railway station in local history

A local history text describes Napaleofú railway station, based on a 1958 station handbook, as a second-category station. At the time, it served passenger traffic and the transport of parcels, goods, and livestock; it also had a telegraph. This historical account illustrates the station’s various functions: in addition to passengers, it handled shipments, goods, and livestock, while the telegraph provided a further service.

Balcarce Partido as the wider destination

Beyond Napaleofú, you can also explore the wider destination of Balcarce Partido. There you’ll find the 420-hectare Laguna La Brava, surrounded by an impressive mountain backdrop. Activities at the lagoon include kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, fishing, and birdwatching. Sierra La Barrosa and Sierra La Vigilancia are considered particularly suitable for bouldering; Sierra La Barrosa also has numerous hiking trails of varying difficulty.

These regional attractions range from water activities and birdwatching to bouldering and hiking. They are part of Balcarce Partido as the wider destination.
