Discover Miramar
Accommodation in Miramar
Miramar can be explored through several distinct themes: its vast forest and dune landscape, a coastal route with a cycle path, outdoor art, and religious and natural history sites. This can help you decide which aspects of the destination interest you most during your stay.
Landscape, Forest and Trails
The Vivero Dunícola Municipal Florentino Ameghino is a forest established in 1923 and covers 502 hectares. The Bosque Vivero Dunícola Florentino Ameghino brings together forest, cliffs, dunes and sand hills. Within the Vivero is the Bosque Energético, a planted pine forest of about three hectares. These figures refer to different scales: the Bosque Energético is part of the expansive Vivero. The Bosque Vivero Florentino Ameghino has paths and trails of varying difficulty; conditions may change.
Coastal Route and Water Recreation
In Miramar, the Paseo Costanero Sur runs along the coast and has a cycle path. By comparison, the trails in the Bosque Vivero vary in difficulty: the Paseo is defined by its coastal route and cycle path, while the forest offers a variety of trails. Another option for recreation is the Parque de Los Patricios–Paseo del Durazno. There is a lake formed by a dam, where visitors can take leisure trips in pedal boats.
Art, History and Natural History
At the entrance to Miramar on RP 11 is the Parque de la Bienal de Arte Esteban Svast. This outdoor art park features more than 90 murals and 12 sculptures; the collection may continue to grow.
The Iglesia San Andrés Apóstol, on Calle 29 between Calle 22 and Calle 24, was completed in 1891. It is considered a landmark in Miramar’s founding. Another religious site is the Gruta de Lourdes y Via Crucis del Bosque, an open-air Catholic sanctuary in the Vivero Dunícola Florentino Ameghino. It is open to the public and free of charge; conditions on site may change.
The Museo de Ciencias Naturales Punta Hermengo houses a fossil collection that includes remains of large glyptodonts, megatheriums and saber-toothed cats, as well as whales, dolphins and local mollusks. The collection thus ranges from large animals to marine finds and specimens from the local mollusk world.
Feria Verde and Getting There
At the intersection of Av. 40 and 37, the Feria Verde promotes and sells natural products from family-run agroecological farms. These include seasonal vegetables, preserves, jams, honey, pollen, herbal infusions, whole-grain sourdough baked goods, legume burgers and cookies. The product selection may vary; if you are going for a particular product, check availability before your visit.
