La Luisa’s local history brings together the railway, horse breeding, and the town’s early development. It includes the station and its succession of names, Haras El Paraíso stud farm, and the history of a shop and Club Unión Labradores. If you’re looking for a hotel for your stay in La Luisa, these topics offer a concrete sense of the destination’s historical landmarks.

The station, trade, and early local history

The settlement of La Luisa developed in connection with a railway station that was inaugurated in 1882. The station was initially called “Saavedra,” was renamed “Arroyo de Luna” in 1919, and has been called “La Luisa” since 1920. The station remains intact. A branch of A. García y Cia. opened near the station in 1900. The shop operated in La Luisa for around 120 years before eventually closing. The town’s history also includes the first subdivision of land, carried out by Alfredo Ham in 1931: one hectare was allocated as a donation to Club Unión Labradores.

Haras El ParaĂso stud farm

Haras El Paraíso was established in 1949, when Ernesto Pueyrredón founded the stud farm in La Luisa, in the Partido de Capitán Sarmiento. In 1964, the same stud farm ranked first in the national stud farm statistics. The farm’s horse-breeding activities continue to this day. A local foundation, a later national top ranking, and continuing horse-breeding activities are thus part of a shared history.
