The Volga-Akhtuba Floodplain Nature Park extends across the Sredneakhtubinsky, Leninsky, and Svetloyarsky districts of Volgograd Oblast.

One specifically identified swimming area is Krit Beach on the left bank of the Volga, in the area managed by the Sredneakhtubinsky Forestry Administration. In 2026, it was listed as a beach equipped for swimming. If you plan to visit during your stay, check access for your intended visit dates.

History and Culture in the District

The Sredneakhtubinsky District Museum of History and Local Lore preserves historical memory of the Great Patriotic War and the Battle of Stalingrad. A specific event from 1942 is associated with the village of Srednyaya Akhtuba: Ruben Ruiz Ibárruri, a Hero of the Soviet Union and defender of Stalingrad, died there of his wounds on September 3 at Field Hospital No. 472. The museum’s work and this individual historical event offer different starting points for exploring the history of the war.

Another cultural attraction is the A. S. Pushkin Museum of Russian Fairy Tales. It is an ethnic park with a museum in the hamlet of Kirovets, on private property in Sredneakhtubinsky District. Before planning a visit, check whether access is possible.

The Akhtubinsky Tomato Festival features creative performances and original art for guests and residents of the district. An edition is listed for 2026. If you plan to attend, check the event dates for your travel period.
