Severka offers several distinct points of interest for a stay: the Severskiye Rocks as a destination for scenery and outdoor activities, the visitor center with its themes of forest and nature, and the history of the village. The railway station helps visitors orient themselves on arrival and is also the starting point for the route to Lake Peschanoye. You can therefore choose a hotel based on the themes that matter for your trip to Severka and decide whether to focus mainly on the rocks, the visitor center, or destinations in the surrounding area as well.

Rocks and Activities Throughout the Year

The Severskiye Rocks, also known as Severskiye-Kamenniye-Palatki, form a ridge several hundred meters long, extending from west to east. It consists of several rock outcrops up to 20–25 meters high. The formation is located near Severka railway station. Visitors to Severka can climb the Severskiye Palatki rocks. Both the scale of the rock formation and the climb are therefore specific aspects of a stay focused on the outdoors. In winter, people go sledding down a slope near the western rock of the Severskiye Rocks. The winter activity at the western rock and the climb on the rocks are two different ways to include the landscape in your travel plans.

Rock Art in the Surrounding Area

The Severka rock art site is located in the surrounding area. It is also known as the “Dancing Men’s Rock” because of its seven scientifically documented anthropomorphic figures. It was created about 4,000 to 5,000 years ago, at the transition from the late Neolithic to the early Bronze Age. Its dating to the threshold between two eras makes the rock art a historical point of interest distinct from the more recent history of Severka itself.

Forest, Plants, and Local History

At the visitor center in Severka, guests can learn about the history of the village and the Ural Educational and Experimental Forest District, as well as the history of forestry in the Urals. The diversity of local plant life is another topic, and the center also includes a mineral collection. The center therefore offers a different focus from a visit to the rocks: local and forestry history, plants, and minerals rather than climbing and rock formations.

The Church of St. John of Kronstadt, the Righteous, is also part of Severka’s history. Construction was completed in 2014; on July 6, it was consecrated by Metropolitan Kirill of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye. The completion of construction and the consecration are two specific historical details about the church in the village.
