The circular route Ferreira do Zêzere – Aderneira – Lago Azul – São Pedro do Castro – Pombeira – Cabrieira is 29.1 km long and rated moderate to challenging. The Lago Azul – Ribeira das Trutas – Lago Azul route is 5.20 km long, has a low difficulty level and takes about 2 hours and 35 minutes. Several off-road routes cross mountainous landscapes, valleys and forests. Geocaching came to Ferreira do Zêzere in 2007, adding a clearly dated reference to its leisure history.

River beaches and their features

Praia Fluvial da Castanheira, also known as Lago Azul, has a floating pool. Check the current status of this facility before your visit. Praia Fluvial da Bairrada, also known as Bairradinha, is in the municipality of Ferreira do Zêzere. Its facilities include accessible walkways, a picnic area and a viewpoint with panoramic views. The two locations therefore have different features: a floating pool at Castanheira, and walkways, a picnic area and a viewpoint at Bairrada.

Architecture and art at the Igreja de São Miguel

The Igreja de São Miguel in Ferreira do Zêzere was built in the 16th century; its façade is in the Mannerist style. Inside are wood carvings, wall paintings and artworks, including Aclamação de Nossa Senhora and A Última Ceia. The church offers two distinct points of focus for exploring its cultural history: the date of construction and style of the façade, and the interior features and named artworks.
