Silnowo – Lakes, Routes and Local History
Accommodation in Silnowo
Silnowo lies north of Lake Pile and is part of the „Pojezierze Drawskie“ Landscape Protection Area. When planning your trip, you can consider various points of reference in the area: the protected area describes its landscape setting, while the lakes and routes offer practical orientation. Cycling and walking routes provide an active focus; historic local features offer another perspective on Silnowo.
Lakes and Landscape
In the area of Nieder-Silnowo, Lake Pile reaches a maximum depth of 43.9 metres. Lake Łączno lies about 500 metres east of Silnowo and covers an area of 50.78 hectares. These details refer to different features: for Lake Pile, the maximum depth in the area of Nieder-Silnowo; for Lake Łączno, its approximate location east of the village and its area. This makes it possible to distinguish the two lakes by their respective points of reference.
Cycling and Walking Routes
The „Kraina małych jezior“ cycling route passes through Silnowo and runs along the shores of Lakes Komorze and Pile. Walkers have two routes to choose from, which differ in length and marking: the unmarked circular route around Lake Pile passes through Silnowo and is more than 30 kilometres long. The 161-kilometre, red-marked „Szlak Wzniesień Moreny Czołowej“ walking route also passes through the village. When comparing them, both the route length and the markings are relevant. The circular route is unmarked, while the longer walking route is marked in red. For the unmarked circular route, it is advisable to check the route and its current condition before setting out. The routes also differ in their connection to the lakes: the circular route goes around Lake Pile, while the cycling route runs along the shores of Lakes Pile and Komorze.
Historic Local Features
The railway station building in Silnowo dates from 1935. The village also has a Protestant cemetery dating from around the turn of the 20th century. A municipal plan from 2007 described the cemetery’s condition at that time as poor. The two historic points of reference are dated differently: a specific year of construction is given for the station building, while the cemetery is assigned an approximate period.
Recreation Area in the Centre
In the centre of Silnowo, a small playground with four pieces of equipment is located in a recreation area next to the volleyball court. The volleyball courts have grass surfaces. A municipal plan from 2007 noted that the courts needed modernisation. If you plan to visit the facilities, check the current condition of the volleyball courts and playground in advance.
