Those looking for hotels in Dziwnów can plan their stay around different aspects of the town: a walk along the promenade, views from the breakwaters or maritime exhibitions. The history of local fishing and experiments exploring processes in the sea offer other focal points. This makes it easy to include walks, exhibitions and a boat trip as different parts of your stay.

Location and shipping

Dziwnów lies on both sides of the Dziwna; since the town’s beginnings, a permanent crossing has been needed. When the drawbridge is raised, ships up to 10 metres high and 8 metres wide can pass through. The town’s location on both sides of the river describes its geographical setting, while passage beneath the raised bridge illustrates a technical aspect of shipping.

Promenade, views and beach

The promenade is a picturesque walking route through Dziwnów. Its western section, Promenada Zachodnia, runs along the crest of a dune and opened at the end of 2018. The dune crest gives this part of the promenade its own landscape character. From the breakwaters, you can look out over the sea, the coast and a stretch of the Dziwna towards the bridge. The breakwaters are open to tourists year-round. Another landscape feature is Lake Martwa Dziwna, which is included in the Natura 2000 conservation programme.

The beaches in the surrounding municipality are also relevant when planning a trip. At the beaches in Dziwnów, Dziwnówek, Łukęcin and Międzywodzie, you can swim in the sea under the supervision of qualified lifeguards; beach rental facilities offer equipment. This information covers several places in the municipality, not just Dziwnów.

Fishing history and maritime exhibitions

The Morskie Centrum Nauki brings together two maritime themes: its exhibition explores the history of Dziwnów’s fishermen, and visitors can conduct experiments there to explore processes in the sea. This combines the local connection to fishing with hands-on exploration of marine phenomena. The Nadmorski Park Miniatur, by contrast, focuses on lighthouses along the Polish coast, displaying them all in one place. You can visit independently or take a guided tour. If you are particularly interested in the history of local fishermen, the Morskie Centrum Nauki is the place to explore; for lighthouses, head to the miniature park.

Seasonal boat trips

Another option is to take an excursion boat from the Przystań Statków Wycieczkowych in the surrounding municipality. Every year, from spring until the end of the summer season, boats styled as pirate ships depart from there for Kamień Pomorski and the open sea. If a boat trip is important to you, check the dates for your travel period. Planning one is different from visiting the breakwaters, which are open year-round: these trips operate only during the stated season.
