Steklno can be understood primarily through two specific places: the 47.5-hectare Steklno Lake and the churchyard cemetery. At the lake, swimming hours and fishing conditions should be considered separately; the cemetery adds a heritage context to the area. If you are looking for a hotel in Steklno, these different points of interest can help you plan your stay.

Steklno Lake: Swimming and Fishing

Steklno Lake is the official and only bathing area in the Gryfino municipality. Swimming is possible there under the supervision of lifeguards from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This gives you a specific time frame for planning your day: supervised swimming is available during those hours.

Fishing is subject to different requirements than swimming. A notice from the Polish Angling Association dated April 25, 2025, describes fishing at the lake under a ten-year agreement. Association members can fish with the required regional or time-based fees. Non-members can fish after obtaining a temporary permit. The conditions therefore depend on whether you are a member or obtain a temporary permit. At 47.5 hectares, the lake is the shared local point of reference for these different activities.

The Churchyard Cemetery as a Local Heritage Site

The churchyard cemetery in Steklno was entered in the Voivodeship Heritage Register in August 1989. This specific protected heritage site complements the water-based activities available at the lake. Those who are also interested in local cultural history when choosing a destination will find another clearly identified point of interest in Steklno, alongside swimming and fishing.

The Gryfino waterfront on the right bank of the East Oder is also shaped by passenger ships and water tourism. It is connected to the Zachodniopomorski Szlak Żeglarski. This network links tourist harbors and marinas in Western Pomerania with German waters along the Oder, the Szczecin Lagoon and the Baltic coast. A cycle path runs along the entire waterfront promenade, where there is also a free public toilet.

There are several cycling route descriptions for Gryfino: a cycle path leads from Jana Pawła II Street via Wełtyń to Gardno. The section of the 257-kilometer Blue Velo route associated with Gryfino is about 46 kilometers long. It runs mostly along former railway embankments, as well as forest paths and low-traffic public roads. The described surfaces and approximate length provide specific points of reference to help you assess this route.

Water sports equipment is available for hire at the Oderstrand on ul. Sportowa in Gryfino. This includes single kayaks, two-person kayaks with room for a child, and SUP boards. Conditions are different on the banks of the East Oder: there is an unsupervised beach where swimming is prohibited. This distinguishes it from the supervised bathing area at Steklno Lake.
