For additional orientation, you can include the wider destination of Gollnow. Its medieval urban history, protected landscapes, water activities and varied routes offer different starting points for planning your trip.

Culture and urban history in Gollnow

One of the distinctive landmarks in Goleniów is the Brama Wolińska, also known as Brama Chrobrego. The defensive gate was built in the Gothic style in the 14th century, stands 26 metres tall and has six storeys. Its defensive function and clear vertical structure make it a characteristic example of medieval urban architecture in the destination of Gollnow.

Significant sections of Goleniów’s medieval town wall have survived. The most interesting and best-preserved section lies southwest of the Old Town, on the Ina River. This allows you to view the defensive gate and wall as distinct landmarks in the town’s history. The Goleniowska Aleja Legend, a riverside promenade renovated in 2013, is also located by the river. Its granite sculptures depict local legends, adding a connection to the area’s stories alongside its historic architecture.

The reuse of older buildings also shapes the townscape: Twierdza Design is a historic industrial site in Goleniów, created from a railway water tower that was renovated between 2019 and 2020. The site is used by social organisations. The Centrum Informacji Turystycznej is located in the passageway of the Brama Wolińska. Among other things, it provides information about tourist infrastructure, places of interest in the town and region, cycling routes, and cultural and sporting events. If you plan to visit this information centre specifically, check its opening hours in advance.

Nature reserves with different priorities

The Wilcze Uroczysko nature reserve covers nearly 63 hectares and extends across the municipalities of Goleniów and Stepnica. It protects a wetland and valuable riparian forests; the area also serves as a refuge for white-tailed eagles. Uroczysko Święta has a different focus: established in 1973, this 9.5-hectare floristic reserve is located in the Goleniów Forest District and protects part of a deciduous forest.

The different conservation priorities can help you get your bearings: Wilcze Uroczysko combines wetlands and riparian forest with a refuge for white-tailed eagles, while Uroczysko Święta focuses on protected deciduous forest. Both areas are part of the wider destination of Gollnow, although the areas described are not located solely in Goleniów.

Walking and cycling routes by length and type

The green PTTK hiking trail Szlak Borów Goleniowskich is 17.1 kilometres long, well marked and recommended especially for hikers and cyclists. It runs between Krzewno, Łęsko, Pucko and Kliniska Wielkie. When planning your route, note the full place name: this route passes through Kliniska Wielkie, while your search destination is Kliniska Małe. Another way to explore Goleniów on foot is the Miejski Szlak Turystyczny. It leads to architectural monuments and places of interest, with blue footprints marking the route.

The cycling routes can also be distinguished by their lengths. A scenic cycling route is 13 kilometres long and passes through Borzysławiec, Lubczyna, Czarna Łąka, Pucice and Rurzyca. Another, green cycling route extends for 45 kilometres and passes through Goleniów, Żdzary, Łaniego, Krępsko, Miękowo, Żółwią Błoć, Niewiadowo, Glewice, Stacja PKP Mosty, Burowo and Mosty. The distances give you a concrete basis for comparing the routes described, without specifying a particular journey time.

The Ina and water tourism

The Ina flows through the municipality of Goleniów and the town of Goleniów. In Lubczyna, the Przystań Jachtowa offers water tourism. The marina has three harbour basins, with space for about 35 inland yachts and 15 sea-going yachts. The separate capacity figures help you understand the scale and the distinction between inland and sea-going yachts.

The wider destination of Gollnow offers a range of additional options, from urban history and riverside features to forests and wetlands, as well as routes of varying lengths.
