Kamieńskie – a peninsula on Lake Orzysz
Accommodation in Kamieńskie
Kamieńskie lies on a peninsula in Lake Orzysz, northeast of Orzysz. It is about seven kilometers from the town, or four kilometers in a straight line. The lake lies at the end of the village road. The Czartówka, a tributary of Lake Orzysz, flows nearby. South of the village is a former Evangelical cemetery dating from the mid-19th century.
Settlement history along the Czartówka
According to the regional encyclopedia, Kamieńskie was granted a charter in 1524 for six łans under Magdeburg law. The estates were transferred to Jan and Stańko Cwalina from neighboring Strzelniki. A mill on the Czartówka is recorded for 1540. The village belonged to the Evangelical parish in Orzysz. Historical population figures were 48 in 1857, 66 in 1864 and 75 in 1867. The population was recorded as 56 in 1933 and 55 in 1939.
The road from Strzelniki to Kamieńskie
A municipal environmental decision dated July 8, 2024, concerned the planned reconstruction of about 2.7 kilometers of municipal road between Strzelniki and Kamieńskie. The road connected the two villages with places farther away. At the time, its surface consisted of road slabs and gravel, and it was between four and four and a half meters wide. The roadside was lined mostly with willows and poplars, with occasional lime and maple trees.
The project was located within the Jeziora Orzyskie Landscape Protection Area. The final stretch of road in Kamieńskie was near Lake Orzysz. The 2024 documents estimated traffic at around 100 vehicles a day, including passenger cars, agricultural vehicles, timber trucks and school transport vehicles. Before your trip, check the current road conditions and any restrictions.
The lake and traces of history
The village’s setting on a peninsula and the nearby mouth of the Czartówka shape its landscape. The historic mill and the cemetery to the south are associated with different periods in its history. If you plan to visit the cemetery or a lakeshore area, check local access conditions and respect private property. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and suitable footwear when walking outdoors.
Plan your hotel and journey
When looking for a hotel, compare the location, amenities and travel information for each property. Before booking, check the connection from your arrival point and the routes to your chosen destinations. If you are planning trips to Orzysz, allow for the return journey and, where relevant, check current departure times. Coordinate your arrival with your accommodation, especially if you expect to arrive late.
