Goldap: Kayak route, lakeside recreation and Piękna Góra
Accommodation in Goldap
Leisure activities at the graduation towers and Lake Gołdap, a kayak route on the Gołdapa and Piękna Góra give Goldap a range of activity options. There is also a green hiking and cycling trail towards Grabowo. When planning, it is therefore worth considering two questions: Would you like to visit individual leisure spots or follow a route, and which activities suit the time of year?
By the water: playground, mini golf and kayaking
Right next to the graduation towers is a playground for all generations covering one hectare. Miniature golf courses are located around the graduation towers and on the shore of Lake Gołdap. Clubs can be borrowed free of charge at the Pijalnia Wód Mineralnych i Leczniczych; if mini golf is part of your plans, ask locally about current availability.
The kayak route on the Gołdapa runs from Lake Gołdap via the town of Gołdap. The route goes from the lake through the town to other places. If you would rather follow a route than visit a single leisure spot, it offers guidance across several sections. The playground and mini golf, by contrast, are specific leisure activities at the graduation towers and on the lakeshore.
A natural area within the wider travel region
The Puszcza Romincka Landscape Park is located in the wider travel region. It has peat bogs and swamp forests, including boreal spruce forest on peat. Eight nature reserves have been designated in the park, two of them in the buffer zone; the park area is also designated as a Natura 2000 site for habitat protection. This natural environment and protected-area context is located in the wider region and differs from the leisure activities by the lake and at the graduation towers in Goldap.
Piękna Góra: winter sports and summer activities
The ski slopes on Piękna Góra are snow-covered and groomed; they are illuminated after dark. The courses include ski and snowboard lessons for beginners with professional instructors. Piękna Góra also has a snow park for snowboarders. If you are planning a lesson, check availability for your travel dates.
The high ropes course on the Zajazd side of Piękna Góra is a summer activity. Before visiting, check whether it is open on your travel dates. The activities have different seasonal emphases: the slopes and snow park are for winter sports, while the high ropes course is for summer.
Hiking and cycling trail to Grabowo
The green Gołdap–Grabowo hiking and cycling trail is 23.3 km long and classified as moderate. It starts at the Emanuel Kant Monument in Gołdap and heads towards Grabowo. This provides specific information for choosing a land route: its length, difficulty level and starting point. Compared with the kayak route, the mode of travel is clear here: one route is designated for hiking and cycling, while the other is a kayak route. If choosing between them, you can first decide on your preferred activity and then take into account the route details for the Gołdap–Grabowo trail.
