If you are looking for a hotel in Włoszczowa, you can plan your trip around specific interests: exercising on marked trails, sacred art or the city’s history. The places and routes offer different highlights. When choosing the focus of your trip, it is therefore worth considering both the activity and its specific starting and ending points.

Trails by activity and starting point

The green Nordic walking route No. 1 is about 6.4 kilometres long. It starts and ends at the car park behind the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Włoszczowa. Three Nordic walking routes were created and signposted for the Włoszczowa municipality in 2014. This provides a broader municipal context for Nordic walking alongside this precisely described route.

The cycling routes differ in their course and landmarks. The “Lasami dookoła Włoszczowy” cycling route, named after Bogusław Chowaniec, runs through the scenic surroundings of Włoszczowa, mostly through forest areas. By contrast, the black-marked cycling route from Włoszczowa to Konieczno starts in the market square and connects with the “Lasami wokół Włoszczowy” cycling route. The market square is thus both a historical point of reference and the starting point for this cycling route.

The horse-riding trail has a different starting point and destination: it begins in Włoszczowa at the end of Wiejska Street, by a footbridge over the Czarna Struga, and ends at the forester’s lodge in Wola Świdzińska. This lets you distinguish between different activities and named landmarks when planning your trip.

The market square and traces of history

The market square in Włoszczowa was laid out in 1539, when Hieronim Szafraniec received the founding charter from King Zygmunt I Stary, granting Włoszczowa town rights. The square is also home to a historic statue of Saint Florian. It was erected in the 19th century following a series of city fires. These two details mark different chapters: the town’s founding in the 16th century and the memory of later fires.

Another distinctive feature is Kopiec św. Jana in Włoszczowa. The mound is about five metres high, with a truncated cone shape at the top; a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on its summit. At the foot of the mound, archaeologists discovered the remains of a 16th-century bridge. The flattened summit, the statue and the archaeological find offer concrete starting points for exploring the history of the place.

Sacred art and the parish house

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Włoszczowa contains numerous memorial plaques and epitaphs, including one in memory of Mikołaj Małachowski. The Museum of Sacred Art is located in the parish house of the WNMP parish. It opens by prior arrangement with its caretaker, Teresa Orlikowska; bear this in mind when planning your visit. The historic parish house of the WNMP parish is a 19th-century building that has been renovated from cellar to attic. A visit to sacred art is therefore combined with a building that has its own history and architectural story.

A destination nearby

Another destination in the nearby area is the KLEKOT body of water. From Włoszczowa, it can be reached in the direction of Łachów via a signposted asphalt road. The directions and road surface provide practical guidance if you include this visit in your travel plans.
