Pińczów offers cultural and historical sights and an activity on the Nida: the Regional Museum is dedicated to the history and culture of Ponidzie, while the Nida kayaking route passes through the town. When planning your trip, you can therefore choose between a focus on collections and historic buildings and a water-based route.

Collections and preserved wall paintings

The Muzeum Regionalne w Pińczowie was founded in 1963. Its collections come from Ponidzie and document the region’s traditions, history and culture from the earliest times to the present day. This broad chronological focus on regional collections sits alongside individual buildings, where specific architectural and decorative features take centre stage.

Fragments of damaged polychrome decoration from the second half of the 18th century have been preserved on the ceiling of the entrance hall of the Renaissance synagogue. Polychrome decoration refers to multicoloured painted ornament. The fragments depict animal and plant motifs, crowns and cartouches with Hebrew inscriptions. Jehuda Leib is considered the likely artist. The interplay of imagery and writing gives the surviving decoration its own art-historical character; the attribution remains probable.

Renaissance and town history

The Dom Ariański is the only Renaissance burgher’s house in Pińczów to have survived to the present day. Its state of preservation makes it a special point of reference for Renaissance urban domestic architecture. Together with the synagogue’s historic wall paintings, it offers a different perspective from the collections of the Regional Museum: here, the focus is on specific buildings and their surviving design features.

The Nida kayaking route also passes through Pińczów. This makes a route on the water part of local trip planning alongside the cultural and historical sights. The route and the collections offer different focuses: one turns attention to the Nida, the others to regional history, culture and surviving architecture.

Additional sights in the wider Pińczów destination

The wider Pińczów destination includes other cultural and historical points of interest. The Wielopolski Palace was built around 1789; a Neoclassical polychrome decoration survives in its interior. The Baroque bell tower is part of the former Pauline monastery, now a parish complex in the centre, at the northeastern corner of the market square, now Plac Wolności. In northern Pińczów, the Chapel of St. Anne stands on Klasztorne Hill, also known as St. Anne’s Hill. Nearby are the remains of 17th-century fortifications and two stone figures from the 19th century.

For cyclists, the “Madonnas of Ponidzie” cycle route starts and ends in Pińczów. Marked with a green bicycle symbol, it is recommended for family outings and is also suitable for children and seniors. Check the current route before setting off. The approximately seven-kilometre “Pińczów–Skowronno” nature and geology educational trail also runs through the Nadnidziański Landscape Park.

Another seasonal option in the wider Pińczów destination is the Ciuchcia Express Ponidzie, which has operated as a tourist attraction during the summer season since 1992.
