Accommodation in Zaborowice
There are several specific ways to get to know Zaborowice: a local history that dates back to a document from 1364, a reported Three Kings procession, and municipal bus routes that pass through the town. Zaborowice also has a branch of the Gminna Biblioteka Publiczna. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, these topics can help you get your bearings: historical context, religious customs, or travel by bus.
Local history and the meaning of the name
The first documentary mention of Zaborowice dates from 1364. In 1462, King Casimir IV Jagiellon granted Zaborowice to the royal treasurer for life. These two dates mark different points in the town’s history: an early mention in a document and a specific later event explicitly lasting for the recipient’s lifetime.
From the 14th century until 1795, Zaborowice was a royal settlement. It was also a royal village and paid tithes to the Sandomierz Collegiate Chapter. The date 1795 marks the end of this status; “for life,” by contrast, refers to the grant of 1462. This distinction separates the town’s longer-standing status from the individual event. The tithe was a levy, making clear not only the town’s royal status but also its obligation to the Sandomierz Collegiate Chapter.
The town’s name is also linked to a description of its location: “za borem” means “behind the forest.” This interpretation connects the name to the town’s setting and adds a linguistic perspective to the historical dates.
A Three Kings procession in Zaborowice
A municipal report from 2023 describes the Orszak Trzech KrĂłli (Three Kings procession). On January 6, after a two-year interruption due to the pandemic, the procession once again wound through the streets of Zaborowice to the Church of St. John the Baptist in Zaborowice to celebrate Epiphany. Participants sang Christmas carols and carried lanterns to the church, where a Nativity play was performed. The account thus connects the route through the town with the religious elements of this particular event.
Library and bus routes
Zaborowice has a branch of the Gminna Biblioteka Publiczna. It is another cultural point of interest in the town. If you plan to visit the library, check its current opening hours in advance.
For travel to the area, municipal bus routes 3 and 5 are relevant: the MniĂłw municipality announced that they would start operating on September 1, 2026, and both routes pass through Zaborowice and other towns. Check the official timetable for current departure times before travelling. This will help you plan your journey around the services running on your travel date.
