Jędrzejów brings together historic churches, a museum with a wide range of collections, and the starting point of a blue trail at the museum. This offers several interests side by side: sacred architectural history, old prints, diverse collections and hiking.

Churches from different periods of construction

The Cistercian church in Jędrzejów dates from around 1140; some surviving fragments go back to around 1110. The Church of the Holy Trinity was built in the first half of the 15th century. The two churches represent different periods in architectural history: fragments of the Cistercian church reach further back, while the Church of the Holy Trinity belongs to a later period of construction.

Museum collections and the Ogród Czasu

The Przypkowski Museum houses a library of old prints, as well as extensive collections on bookplates, graphic art, the history of gastronomy, pharmacy and photography. There are also exhibits on the Polish Legions. The range spans everything from books and images to subjects related to gastronomy and pharmacy. If you are interested in different areas of collecting, you will find several specific points of interest here for a cultural stay.

The “Ogród Czasu” (Garden of Time) is part of the museum. It features water basins shaped like tiers of water, with flowing water. The garden wall displays zodiac signs as well as symbols of the elements and planets. Water and signs appear side by side as distinct design features; the garden thus adds its own visual dimension to the collections.

Trailhead and music event

The blue Szlak im. ks. Stanisława Hieronima Konarskiego (Rev. Stanisław Hieronim Konarski Trail) begins at the Przypkowski Museum in Jędrzejów, at Plac Tadeusza Kościuszki. The museum is therefore also the designated starting point of the trail. This location is useful when planning your visit if you are interested in hiking as well as the museum’s collections.

For the concerts of the “32nd Międzynarodowy Festiwal Muzyki Organowej i Kameralnej Jędrzejów 2026” (International Festival of Organ and Chamber Music Jędrzejów 2026), the Cistercian Abbey in Jędrzejów, ul. Klasztorna 20, was the venue; concerts took place on Saturdays at 7 p.m. These details apply to the 2026 edition.

In the wider Jędrzejów destination

In the wider Jędrzejów destination, the Cistercian monastery was founded between 1140 and 1149. It was the first Cistercian monastery in the Polish territories of the time. The monastery’s foundation adds a distinct historical dimension to the story of the local churches.

The wider destination also includes the floristically focused “Gaj” nature reserve in the municipality of Jędrzejów, in Jędrzejów County. It protects populations of the lady’s slipper orchid (Cypripedium calceolus). Nine legally protected vascular plant species occur in the reserve, three of which are under strict protection. Thus, alongside the history of churches and the museum, the wider destination also offers a botanical interest.
