Busko-Zdrój combines parkland and outdoor activities with a salt graduation tower in the new spa park, art and historic architecture. If you are looking for a hotel in Busko-Zdrój, this mix can help you choose the focus of your trip: the places below showcase different sides of the city.

Park Zdrojowy: Landscape History and Outdoor Activities

The historic Park Zdrojowy covers more than 14 hectares. Henryk Marconi laid it out in the 19th century, and gardener Ignacy Hanusz designed its green spaces. The park is also suitable for walking, jogging and Nordic walking. It also features the “Aleja Marzeń” promenade, tennis courts, a concert shell and a playground. A concert shell is a covered stage for outdoor concerts; Nordic walking means walking with poles.

Salt Graduation Tower in the New Spa Park

A more recent feature of the spa park is the salt graduation tower complex, built in 2020 in the new spa park. It serves as a natural inhalatorium: brine flows over walls filled with blackthorn branches and evaporates there extensively. The two places also differ in age: the park was laid out in the 19th century, while the salt graduation tower complex dates from 2020.

Art and Event Spaces at Willa Polonia

The Buska Galeria Sztuki Willa Polonia showcases contemporary art as well as works by local artists. Its four exhibition rooms also provide space for a range of events: in addition to exhibitions, they can host meetings, talks and workshops.

Hiking Trails to Zbrodzice and Solec

Two hiking trails are easy to distinguish by length and destination. The black trail runs from Busko-Zdrój to Zbrodzice and is 5.5 kilometres long. The red trail connects the spa towns of Busko and Solec over 27 kilometres. Check current trail conditions locally before setting out on the red trail.

Architectural History Between the Sanatorium and the Chapel

The former Łazienki building, now the Marconi Sanatorium, was designed by Italian architect Henryk Marconi and opened in 1836. The sanatorium houses a concert hall; its doors are adorned with statues of Orpheus and Eurydice. In Busko-Zdrój, the name Henryk Marconi links the architectural history of the former Łazienki building with the history of the park: he designed the building and also laid out Park Zdrojowy.

Another historic stop is the Neo-Gothic St. Anne’s Chapel in the eastern part of the spa park. It was built in 1884 at the initiative of Dr Aleksander Dobrzański, with support from local residents. The dates associated with the two buildings refer to different events: 1836 marks the opening of the sanatorium building, while 1884 marks the construction of the chapel. Neo-Gothic refers to a later revival of Gothic architectural forms and describes the design, not the age of the building itself.
