Garnek lies on the Warta and the Wiercica rivers. For visitors staying here, traces of the former manor, a church history that can be dated, and a kayaking route offer distinct topics to explore.

Manor and Park History

The Garnek estate included a park with rare tree species and landscaped avenues. Remnants of the estate park from the turn of the 20th century have survived. Edward Reszke bought the Garnek estate in 1895. The former manor gatehouse dates from 1898; the former estate also included a brick granary from the early 20th century. Only the cellars remain of the Moraczewski family manor house in Garnek. The brick granary points to the agricultural side of the former estate, while the park and manor house have survived in different forms. The history of the estate and park therefore does not have a single date: alongside the years 1895 and 1898 are a date around the turn of the century and the granary’s classification as an early-20th-century building.

Churches and Dated Local History

The former parish church in Garnek dated from 1750 and no longer exists. It was burned down on 13 May 1944. Construction of the replacement church began on 7 October 1947; the new church was consecrated on 2 September 1951. This makes it possible to clearly distinguish the former church, its destruction, and the later replacement in chronological terms. The parish cemetery dates from 1902 and is listed as a monument on the plan. Its date falls between the older church and the events of 1944–1951, providing a distinct, dated point of reference in the local history.

Kayaking Route and Quest

For travellers looking to plan an activity on the water, the Kłobukowice–Garnek kayaking route is a concrete option. It is 14 kilometres long, rated as moderate, and offered as a four-hour trip. These details help with different planning questions: the distance describes the route length, the rating indicates the difficulty, and four hours is the stated route duration—not the journey time to Garnek. Water conditions and operational details may change; check with the provider before setting out. The route leads to the Garnek landing stage on Błonie Street by the Warta; the landing stage is in Kłomnice.

The “W Gnieździe Reszków” quest in Garnek focuses on the Reszke family. Check its current availability before travelling. The route and quest have different focuses: the kayaking trip centres on distance, rating, and time, while the quest focuses on the Reszke family. This lets you first choose based on the activity or history topic you’re interested in, before planning the details of your trip.
