Borzechowo: Lakeside Scenery and Local History
Accommodation in Borzechowo
Borzechowo combines its location on two lakes with notable landmarks from the town’s history and seasonal activities. The town lies on Lake Borzechowskie Wielkie and Lake Borzechowskie Małe. When choosing a destination, these different highlights can be considered together in your planning: the lakeside scenery, historic architecture, a cycling route, events and football. Borzechowo’s geographical landmarks thus come together with activities for which specific dates are important to planning.
Lakes and Surroundings
At 35 metres, Lake Borzechowskie Wielkie is the deepest lake in Kociewie and is also one of the largest and deepest lakes in the surrounding area. Borzechowo is also located on Lake Borzechowskie Małe. Nearby, the Wirty Arboretum lies on the western shore of Lake Borzechowskie Wielkie. This gives you two distinct geographical reference points: Borzechowo lies on the lakes, while Wirty is located on the western shore of the larger lake.
Church and Kociewie House
St Anne’s Parish Church was built in 1854. It is Neo-Baroque and is considered a prominent landmark rising above the town. Until 1945, it was a Protestant church. On 28 April 1998, it was entered in the register of historic monuments as a historic building under number 1662. Its construction date, former religious use and later listing as a historic monument represent different chapters in its history.
The thatched wooden Kociewie House is dated to the 18th century and is said to have been built on foundations dating from 1625. On 21 December 1984, it was entered in the register of historic monuments as a historic building under number 1076. The two buildings represent different periods: the church is notable for its construction date and religious history, while the Kociewie House is associated with its 18th-century dating and the cautiously phrased claim about its foundations.
A branch of the municipal library is located in the historic Kociewie House. If you are planning a visit, check the current access arrangements in advance.
Cycling Route and Seasonal Activities
A convenient cycling route connects Borzechowo with nearby Wirty, among other places. If you include this route in your plans, check its condition before setting out. This lets you take the cycling connection described here into account and factor local conditions into your travel plans.
During the season, numerous local events are held in Borzechowo, organised by the local KGW Modraki and the village council. If you would like to plan your stay around an event, check the specific dates in advance. The seasonal timeframe and the dates of individual events are two separate considerations.
Football fans can watch SŁAWEK Borzechowo matches at the frequent sporting events. If you have a particular match in mind, check the current fixture list. Unlike the seasonal scheduling of local events, this part of your planning depends directly on the date of the match in question.
