Mosty offers several specific local points of reference to help you plan your stay: a protected landscape, historic architecture and a local section of EuroVelo 10/13. These give you different ways to decide whether nature, history or cycling will be the main focus of your stay.

Landscape and natural features

Mosty lies in the buffer zone of the Nadmorski Park Krajobrazowy Coastal Landscape Park. The Rezerwat Czapli Siwej (Grey Heron Reserve) is located on the boundary between Mosty and Mechelinki. These two details describe different geographical contexts: Mosty’s location in a buffer zone and the reserve’s position on the boundary. This distinction can help you understand the landscape setting of the area.

One particularly specific natural feature is Aleja Lipowa in Mosty. It comprises 24 small-leaved lime trees, each about 40 years old and designated as natural monuments. The avenue leads to the late-Baroque manor house. It is both a local landmark with its own natural significance and a reference point on the way to the building. The species of tree, approximate age and protected status make the avenue a different point of interest from the Grey Heron Reserve’s location on the municipal boundary.

The manor house and local history

The late-Baroque manor house in Mosty dates from the 18th century. It was formerly the residence of the abbots of Oliwa; after 1968, it was renovated by the merchant Walter Wirtschaft. The construction period, former function and later renovation mark different phases in the building’s history. The manor house can therefore be understood both through its architecture and through its changing use over time.

Dwór Mosty is also part of the “Szlak Dworów i Pałaców Północnych Kaszub,” the Trail of Manors and Palaces of Northern Kashubia. This connection places the building within a broader cultural context. An obelisk in the centre of Mosty commemorates those who fell defending Kępa Oksywska. The obelisk represents a different historical focus from the manor house: here, remembrance is central, while the manor house is associated with its architectural history and changing uses.

Cycling and getting around the area

There is also a specific local reference for cyclists. Stage 4 of EuroVelo 10/13 runs through Mosty on local paved roads with light traffic. The details about the road surface and traffic describe the route locally. This differs from the cultural context of the manor house as part of the Trail of Manors and Palaces: one describes a cycling stage, the other connects a historic building with a cultural route.

Another natural feature is a chestnut tree in Mosty, around 250 years old, where you can stop. It offers a different point of reference from Aleja Lipowa: the chestnut is a single tree, around 250 years old, while the avenue comprises 24 protected lime trees and also leads to the manor house. If you sort the area’s features by theme, you can distinguish between individual natural monuments, landscape settings, history and cycling.
