Mikoszewo – Nature, Ferry and Architectural Heritage
Accommodation in Mikoszewo
If you are looking for a hotel in Mikoszewo, you can start by considering the destination’s specific themes: the artificial mouth of the Vistula, a seasonal ferry service, the local nature trail, a route for observing nature in the nearby Mewia Łacha Nature Reserve, and regional architectural heritage. These features bring together river engineering and transport with nature observation and historic buildings. Consider which of them matter for your stay; this gives your search for a hotel in Mikoszewo a specific starting point.
River Mouth, Port and Ferry Service
The Przekop Wisły is an artificial mouth of the Vistula between Świbno and Mikoszewo. It was created between 1891 and 1895 by excavating a new riverbed. The basin of the former ferry crossing in Mikoszewo dates from 1895 and is now used as a small fishing port. Two different developments therefore meet here: the creation of a new riverbed and the current use of a former ferry basin as a port.
A ferry operates on the Przekop Wisły during the tourist season. The crossing between Mikoszewo and Świbno is part of Voivodeship Road 501. If you plan to use the ferry, check the timetable that applies to your travel date.
The rail service is also seasonal and operates at specific times: the 2026 timetable provided for daily trains on the Sztutowo–Stegna–Jantar–Mikoszewo–Prawy Brzeg Wisły route from 30 May to 30 August. Under the summer timetable, services ran from 09:00 to 19:10. These times apply to the 2026 season; for later trips, please check the timetable then in effect.
Nature Trail and Wildlife Observation
The Mewia Łacha nature trail in Mikoszewo is about 850 metres long and has eight themed information boards. From Bursztynowa Street, it follows a forest path to beach access point No. 90. At around 850 metres, the trail is short; the boards provide additional thematic information. The trail thus combines a clearly stated length with information along the way.
The larger eastern part of the Mewia Łacha Nature Reserve is in the municipality of Stegna, near Mikoszewo. The reserve has a designated route for observing nature. With a little luck, you may see young seals playing there. Unlike the nature trail, the focus here is on observing nature and the possibility of spotting the animals; such a sighting is not guaranteed.
Another point of reference is Mikoszewo’s sea bathing area: it is located at access point No. 88, by the forest car park, and extends 100 metres east towards Jantar. This access point should not be confused with beach access point No. 90, which the nature trail from Bursztynowa Street leads to. The two numbers therefore identify different places: No. 88 marks the sea bathing area, while No. 90 is the destination of the forest path.
Arcaded House and Paved Areas
The arcaded house at 68 Gdańska Street is a historic building from the mid-19th century and an example of the typical architecture of the Żuławy region. The inter-embankment area of Mikoszewo, around the ferry crossing over the Przekop Wisły, also has old paved surfaces and a paved square. These built landmarks offer different points of interest: the arcaded house is an example of regional architecture, while the paved areas characterize the crossing area. They provide two specific points of reference for planning your trip if you would like to explore the village’s architectural heritage as well as its nature and river connections.
