Rodowo – Art, Church and Cycling Routes
Accommodation in Rodowo
Rodowo offers several starting points for a stay: the regularly recurring international sculpture and painting plein-air event “Pole Sztuk,” a sculpture gallery featuring works created over several years, the parish church of St. Stanislaus Kostka, and blue cycling routes. When planning your trip, you can focus on art, architectural history, or cycling. The locations and routes provide concrete guidance for each option.
Art Projects and Sculpture Gallery
“Pole Sztuk” is an international sculpture and painting plein-air event and a recurring project in Rodowo. Over the course of the project, more than 1,500 art students and several thousand established artists came to Rodowo and left behind an extensive body of artistic work. These figures describe participation over the history of the project, not attendance at a single edition.
Rodowo is also home to a sculpture gallery featuring works created over several years by artists and students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. The two art-related attractions offer different perspectives: the plein-air event focuses on a recurring initiative, while the gallery showcases a body of work created over a longer period. If you are interested in art, you can consider these separately when planning your trip.
Parish Church and Heritage Register
The parish church of St. Stanislaus Kostka was built in 1754 in the Baroque style. The heritage listing, dated 1967, includes the churchyard as well as the church. The listing also references the 14th century, 1624, 1754, and the 19th century. In addition, 21 movable objects associated with the church are entered in the heritage register. The specific year of construction and other historical references are thus recorded together in the listing.
Cycling Routes and Local Orientation
A 30 km blue cycling route runs from Prabuty through Obrzynowo, Jakubowo, Rodowo, and Górowychy, and back to Prabuty. Rodowo is therefore on a circular route that starts and ends in Prabuty. The local blue cycling trail passes through Rodowo and provides opportunities for cycling in the Prabuty municipality. After Rodowo, the route continues along a field road to Górowychy.
The Rodowo section of the route also includes a visit to a historic 18th-century Baroque church. If you plan to stop there, check visiting arrangements for your dates in advance. This lets you combine the cycling route with a cultural and historical point of interest without treating the entire route and the church visit as the same activity.
Another point of reference is the nature trail in Rodowo, which begins and ends at the Center for Art and Ecology. Both the start and the finish of this trail are therefore at the same institution. This is a different spatial reference from the cycling route, which passes through several named locations and continues along a field road to Górowychy after Rodowo. For your planning, this provides two distinct starting points: a nature trail with a clearly identified location and a cycling route with named places along the way.
