The “Złota Góra”–Delewo cycling route passes through Brodnica Dolna; the Raduńskie Lakes kayaking route also passes through the village. Cycling and paddling each come with their own planning considerations.

Cycling and kayaking

The 23.2 km “Złota Góra”–Delewo cycling route passes through Brodnica Dolna, Ostrzyce, Wieżyca, Szymbark, Gołubie and Stężyca. The stated distance refers to the entire route. On the Raduńskie Lakes kayaking route, kayaks must be carried 20 m in Brodnica Dolna to bypass a weir. Take this section into account when planning your paddle and check the current conditions at the weir before setting off.

Two kayak launches have been built in Brodnica Dolna, on the upper and lower sections of the Radunia. Paths integrated into the existing terrain make it easier to access the launches. If you plan to use them on your trip, check their condition before visiting. A watersports equipment rental may also be a useful place to start; check in advance whether it is currently operating and what equipment is available.

The nearby lake landscape

Nearby Lake Brodno Wielkie is connected by bays to Lake Ostrzyckie and Lake Małe Brodno; the Radunia also flows through the lake. The north shore is initially low and marshy. Further south, the shore rises to about 50 m above the water level. The lake has an average depth of 6.6 m. This means the shoreline’s varied forms are complemented by a measurable reference for water depth.

Nearby, the Złota Góra viewpoint offers a panorama of Lake Brodno Wielkie and the surrounding hills. There is also a marina on the lake. If you plan a specific visit to the viewpoint or want to use the marina, check access and operating status in advance.

Karthaus: Culture and Routes in Kartuzy

In the wider Karthaus destination, Kartuzy is home to a 14th-century Gothic collegiate church. It is one of Pomerania’s most valuable architectural monuments and unique on a national scale; it also bears witness to the activities of the Carthusian order. A distinctive feature is its Baroque roof, shaped like a coffin lid. It symbolizes the monastic ideal of the Carthusian order and the motto “memento mori.”

The Franciszek Treder Kashubian Museum in Kartuzy presents literature, material culture, language, and regional history and traditions. Its exhibits are displayed in eight exhibition rooms in the main building. They include Bazyli’s forge, the exhibition “Kaszubska współczesność z korzeni wyrasta” and temporary exhibitions.

There are several different routes for getting active in Kartuzy. The Promenada Asesora is a walking and cycling path by Lake Karczemne, linked to the Ławka Asesora, which serves as a viewpoint over Kartuzy. Another promenade by Lake Klasztorne Małe was established in 2020. The green Nordic walking route around Kartuzy starts and ends at the Ławka Asesora; it runs entirely through the forest, over hilly terrain and close to small forest lakes.

A municipal route description dated June 27, 2016, describes the blue-marked PTTK Kartuski Trail from Trójmiasto through the Kashubian Lake District to Kartuzy. The same description lists Nordic Walking Route No. 1: it covers 8.4 km in about two hours, from the Ławka Asesora via Kosy and Bilowo to Kartuzy. Check these route details again before your trip. The Kartuska Nature Bike Route is just under 26 km long and marked in green.
