Łapy brings together culture, cycling and a kayaking trip on the Narew. The town is home to the brick Church of Saints Peter and Paul; the Rowerowa Obwodnica NPN cycling route passes through Łapy, and Sosenka is a recreation spot for local residents. Another viewpoint is in Uhowo, within the municipality of Łapy but outside the town. This geographical distinction helps separate destinations in the town from an additional destination in the municipality.

Church and Building History

The brick Church of Saints Peter and Paul was built between 1918 and 1927. Its architecture draws on the Polish Renaissance and Baroque. The construction period places its origins in the early 20th century, while the stylistic references point to the Renaissance and Baroque as architectural influences. This distinguishes the actual construction period from the design inspiration. For travelers interested in architectural history, the church is a tangible cultural and historical point of interest in Łapy.

Cycling and Kayaking on Different Routes

The blue-marked Rowerowa Obwodnica NPN cycling route is 90 kilometers long and passes through Łapy. Its distance makes it an extensive cycling option whose length can be taken into account when planning your trip. Check the current route markers on site before setting off.

The 10-kilometer Szlak Okrężny z Uhowa is a kayaking trip of several hours on the Narew, from Uhowo via Bokiny and Łapy and back to Uhowo. The starting and finishing point is in Uhowo; Bokiny and Łapy lie along the route. Unlike the cycling route, the kayaking trip is described in terms of both distance and duration of several hours. This allows you to compare two different planning scales: a 90-kilometer cycling route through Łapy and a 10-kilometer kayaking trip lasting several hours on the Narew. When making your choice, the mode of transport matters as well as the distance.

Sosenka as a Local Recreation Spot

Another place to visit is Sosenka. This spot in Łapy is used by local residents for recreation, and visitors can also stop there. Unlike the cycling and kayaking routes, which have specified distances, this is not about the length of a route but about a local stop. Longer activities and a separately designated place to take a break therefore complement each other in town.

Observation Tower in Uhowo

In Uhowo, within the municipality of Łapy, stands an observation tower with an educational function; it is not in the town of Łapy itself. The tower was officially opened on July 11, 2023. It is 44 meters high, and 258 steps lead to its highest observation platform. From the tower, the view extends over, among other things, the Narew floodplains.

Its facilities include observation telescopes, a compass, thermometers, a wind meter and cameras for observing the landscape. The equipment offers different perspectives: telescopes and landscape observation cameras sit alongside instruments for orientation and weather observation.
