Choroszcz combines a distinctive historic complex with museum themes, sacred architectural history and marked routes. For travelers looking for a hotel in Choroszcz, the stay can be tailored to specific interests: the architecture of the Branicki Palace, the museum’s exhibitions, or a walking or horseback-riding route can take center stage. The local themes are just as distinct as the different types of activity.

Palace Complex and Architectural History

The Branicki Palace was built on an artificial island before 1729. In the third quarter of the 18th century, the complex was expanded into a residence with pavilions and outbuildings. This sequence shows that the residence was shaped by more than the palace itself, with additional buildings also playing a part. The palace and park complex, created in the 18th century, is considered exceptional within Polish architecture for its architectural form and spatial layout. The Museum of Palace Interiors is housed in the reconstructed summer residence of Jan Klemens Branicki. In Choroszcz, the history of the residence and a specific museum institution thus come together.

Museum and Sacred Architectural History

The Museum of Palace Interiors holds temporary exhibitions on the art, culture and customs of past eras. These themes add cultural aspects and ways of life from earlier times to the architectural history of the palace and park complex. The Church and former Dominican monastery of Saints John the Baptist and Stephen the Martyr are also located in Choroszcz. Fragments of wall paintings from the third quarter of the 18th century have been preserved in the former Dominican monastery. These paintings offer a different historical perspective from the residential architecture: they point to the decoration of interior spaces and to a clearly defined period of the 18th century. Choroszcz thus brings together different forms of historic architecture and art history.

Walking Trails and Horseback-Riding Route

Two walking trails pass through Choroszcz. The green-marked Zygmunt Gloger Trail is 48 km long; the blue-marked Włókniarzy Trail measures 60 km. Their colors, names and lengths make it easy to distinguish between the two routes. When planning, you can compare the stated distances and also bear in mind that both trails pass through Choroszcz. The orange-marked Dolina Górnej Narwi horseback-riding route offers a different type of activity. It is 110 km long and runs as far as Choroszcz. The routes therefore differ not only in their markings and lengths, but also in the activity they are intended for and their respective connection to the town: the walking trails pass through Choroszcz, while the horseback-riding route runs as far as Choroszcz.
