If you are looking for a hotel in Krasnik, the city’s historical attractions can help guide your travel plans. These include a 15th-century church, traces of Jewish history, exhibitions on the city’s history and a connection to the Camino de Santiago. Areas of interest include architecture, Jewish history, city photography at the museum and a route through several towns.

Churches and historic sites

The three-nave WNMP church dates from the 15th century and covers an area of about 560 m². It is part of a former monastery complex belonging to the Canons Regular of St Augustine. “Three-nave” describes the building’s layout, with a central nave and two side aisles. The church can therefore be understood both as a religious building and as part of a former monastic complex.

Sites along the Hasidic Route include the New Cemetery and the building of the former mikveh. The cemetery was established in the mid-19th century. These two sites complement the religious buildings with traces of Krasnik’s Jewish history: one is a historic cemetery, and the other is a building that once housed a mikveh.

A 17th-century hospital church is also one of Krasnik’s notable historic buildings. It complements the older WNMP church with an example from a later period. The recreational reservoir offers a different perspective on local crafts: a reconstructed kiln for handmade bricks is located there. It is the only reconstructed kiln of its kind in the Lubelszczyzna region.

City history at the Regional Museum

The Regional Museum in Krasnik presents three permanent exhibitions: “24. Pułk Ułanów. Historia i Tradycja,” “Bitwy Kraśnickie 1914–1915” and “Dawny Kraśnik.” Check which exhibitions are currently on display before your visit.

“24. Pułk Ułanów. Historia i Tradycja” focuses on the 24th Uhlan Regiment, which was stationed in Kraśnik from 1922 to 1939. The exhibition connects a specific military history topic with a clearly defined period in the city’s history.

The exhibition “Bitwy Kraśnickie 1914–1915” focuses on the First World War battles in the Kraśnik region. It particularly highlights the major Battle of Kraśnik in August 1914 between Austro-Hungarian and Russian armies. Its regional focus broadens the perspective beyond individual buildings and the history of the city itself.

“Dawny Kraśnik” is a photographic exhibition on panels about the city’s history. The photographs show both buildings that no longer survive and buildings that still exist today in altered form. The focus here is on how the cityscape has changed, while the other exhibitions explore military history topics.

Tickets for the Regional Museum can be reserved at the museum ticket office. Check the reservation details before your visit.

Camino de Santiago and guided city tours

The Lubelska Droga św. Jakuba is 135 km long and connects Lublin with Sandomierz. From Lublin, it runs via Kraśnik and Annopol to Zawichost, then continues to Sandomierz. These towns place Krasnik along a longer route. If you include the route in your travel plans, check the current route conditions in advance.

A museum program in 2023 included guided historical city tours in Kraśnik for organized groups by prior arrangement. If you are planning such a tour as part of an organized group, confirm with the museum in advance whether it is still available.
