The Powiat Kamiennogórski district lies in southwestern Poland, in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. In the Central Sudetes, it borders the Karkonosze, Rudawy Janowickie, Kaczawskie Mountains and Wałbrzyskie Mountains. The Powiat Kamiennogórski covers around 396 km². Rivers and streams flow through its basins; the landscape also includes picturesque mountain ranges, rocks, meadows and forests. The region thus brings together a variety of natural features and cultural sites.

Landscape and Protected Nature

Rudawski Landscape Park encompasses the Rudawy Janowickie, including the Góry Sokole and Wzgórza Karpnickie. It also includes the Góry Ołowiane in the Kaczawskie Mountains and the Góry Lisie in the Kamiennogórska Basin. The park protects mountain and river geocomplexes as well as natural ecosystems. Its description brings together several named landscape areas under a shared conservation mandate.

The Kruczy Kamień nature reserve is also known for its distinctive rocky landscape: it lies on the southwestern slopes of Krucza Skała, which is 681 m high. The reserve protects rare Sudetic pioneer communities of neutralophilous rock habitats on natural rock outcrops and landslides. Sztolnia Wapienna in Ciechanowice tells a different geological story. The former mine lies in a calcite vein and now provides a refuge for hibernating bats and rare fungal species.

Hiking Trails, Lakes and Activities

Zadzierna is 724 m high and rises above the village of Bukówka. The mountain has numerous hiking trails and climbing routes. People fish and seek recreation at Bukówka Reservoir. These places offer different activities: hiking and climbing on Zadzierna, and fishing and recreation at the reservoir.

The Kolorowe Jeziorka are located in Rudawski Landscape Park. Three lakes occupy former pyrite mine pits. Hiking trails lead to them from Wieściszowice and Raszów; there is also the “Zielonym szlakiem przez Kolorowe Jeziorka” educational trail, with four stops. Visitors can explore the lake landscape both along the trails and at the educational trail’s stops. The specific details about the number of lakes and the routes distinguish this destination from the hiking and climbing routes on Zadzierna.

Architectural History and Krzeszów

The wooden “Na wodzie” pavilion, also known as “Opacki,” stands on stilts in the middle of a small pond in Betlejem near Krzeszów. It was built between 1674 and 1680. Its construction and position on the water give the building a distinctive place among the region’s cultural attractions.

The visitor office at the Basilica Minor dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located at Plac Jana Pawła II 3. It handles reservations, accepts Mass requests and sells admission tickets. An undated description of the “Stara Wozownia” restaurant in Krzeszów Abbey Square mentions hot meals for individual guests and organized groups, as well as home-style cooking and cakes made from recipes passed down through generations.

The places and activities described here offer different ways to plan your visit. You can choose a hotel based on what matters most for your trip.
