If you are looking for a hotel in Mysłakowice, the village’s points of interest can help you decide whether it suits your interests in castle history, hiking routes or geological features. Here, a historic castle and park complex, marked trails with named endpoints and individual features on two mountains come together.

Castle History and Architecture

The castle and park complex is part of Mysłakowice’s historic character. As part of the castles and landscape parks of the Jelenia Góra Valley, it is included in the Pomnik Historii (Monument of History) designation. In 1821, the castle passed into the ownership of the Prussian King Frederick William III, who designated it as his summer residence. Between 1842 and 1844, it was given its Neo-Gothic architectural style. The change of ownership and its designation as a summer residence were earlier events in its history; the Neo-Gothic design came later.

The Tyrolean houses in Mysłakowice have richly decorated balconies. Here, the focus is on a specific façade detail, while the castle’s history can be understood through its change of ownership, use as a summer residence and Neo-Gothic design. There is also a monument to Johann Fleidl, a leader from the Zillertal, in the park. The castle, balconies and monument offer different cultural points of interest: an architectural complex, a house façade and a memorial to an individual.

Special Places and Reasons to Visit

The jaw of a Greenland whale is housed at the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury. If you specifically want to see the exhibit, check in advance whether a visit is possible. During previous editions of Dni Kościoła, residents and tourists were able to visit areas of the Church of the Sacred Heart that are normally inaccessible during regular visits. If you would like to include this special opportunity in your travel plans, check the dates for your travel period.

Hiking Trails with Different Endpoints

For hikers, the routes described here differ mainly in their landmarks. The green-marked “Droga Królewska” (Royal Road) leads from the castle in Mysłakowice to the castle in Karpniki. A black-marked hiking route in Mysłakowice connects the red and green trails and runs from the railway station to the castle. The Droga Królewska therefore has two castles as its endpoints, while the black route links the railway station and the castle and connects the two trail colours. Before setting out, check the current markings and trail conditions.

Rock Formations and a Granite Structure

Sowi Kamień is a small, weathered rock with aplite veins. It lies on the southeastern slope of Mrowiec, a little below the summit. Kamienna Altana is located just below the summit of Krzyżowa Góra. It consists of a granite slab resting on three granite columns; a stone cross was erected above it in 1874. By comparison, Sowi Kamień is notable for its weathered rock and aplite veins, while Kamienna Altana stands out for its granite structure and the cross bearing its date.
