Discover Łask: Rose Festival, Old Town and Beach
Accommodation in Łask
Łask offers several different attractions for a visit: the Old Town with its redesigned market square, the Kolumna district with its wooden architecture, the Rose Festival and the “Zajączek” beach. When planning, you can first decide whether local history, architecture, an event date or time by the water should be the main focus. These different themes give your visit distinct highlights.
Culture in the Market Square and Kolumna
Łask’s Old Town includes the redesigned market square. The Muzeum Historii Łasku is located in a historic townhouse on the square. Its permanent exhibitions cover the history of Łask on the Grabia River, alongside temporary exhibitions. This brings a lasting focus on local history together with changing exhibition themes in one place. If you would like to see a particular temporary exhibition, check what is currently on offer in advance.
Kolumna, a district of Łask, offers a different architectural highlight. It draws on the garden-city movement that was popular around the turn of the 20th century and features original wooden architecture. Together with the historic townhouse and the market square, it offers a glimpse of different aspects of Łask’s built history: both its urban centre and the distinctive character of an individual district. Kolumna is therefore a cultural attraction in its own right, alongside a visit to the Old Town.
The Rose Festival and stories at selected locations
The first Rose Festival in Łask took place in 2013. It was well received and became a recurring event. If the festival is a deciding factor for your trip, check the announced dates in advance; its recurring nature does not indicate a specific future event date.
You can also discover the history of the area in another way: as of June 2025, QR-code plaques at selected locations let visitors use a smartphone to listen to stories about each place. This complements a museum visit with short, location-specific audio content. The plaques relate to selected locations; they are not installed throughout the entire city.
Beach, lakeshore and routes
The municipal “Zajączek” beach is on a reservoir formed by the Grabia and Pisia rivers. The body of water covers around 2 hectares and has a small island in the middle. The shores are used in different ways: fishing is permitted on the north shore, while the opposite shore has a designated, supervised bathing area and a beach. This layout can help you plan your visit around fishing or swimming. Swimming conditions may vary by season.
During the summer holidays, the beach has a rental service for kayaks and smaller sports and leisure equipment. As this service is seasonal, check availability before you arrive. This will help you decide whether to limit your stay to a visit to the beach or also set aside time for a rental activity.
For route planning, one specific detail is that three of the four blue-marked sections of the Szlaki Ziemi Sieradzkiej run through Łask. Check local notices about current trail conditions before setting out. The tourist information office in Łask also provides information on attractions and cultural events, walking and cycling routes, and the city’s and surrounding area’s museum and leisure options. If you are weighing up several of these activities for your stay, you can ask there about the options that suit you.
