Dmosin and its municipality: church, manor remains and DinoPark
Accommodation in Dmosin
Dmosin brings together traces of its architectural and manor history with places to visit in the area of the municipality. The parish church and the remains of the former manor complex are in Dmosin; DinoPark Kołacinek offers different themes, from fairy-tale characters to dinosaurs and fossils. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Dmosin, these different attractions may influence your choice of destination.
Parish Church of St. Andrew the Apostle
The brick parish church of St. Andrew the Apostle was built in 1728 and consecrated in 1761. Its patron saints are St. Andrew the Apostle and St. Margaret, virgin and martyr. The dates distinguish construction from consecration: the church was built in 1728, and consecration followed in 1761. Between 1925 and 1930, the building was enlarged with two side aisles and two vestibules. Thus, both its early construction and a later expansion are part of the church’s history.
Visits are scheduled for times before and after services on Sundays and public holidays, as well as by prior arrangement. Check in advance whether these visiting opportunities are currently available, and arrange your visit if necessary.
Remains of the manor complex
Remains of the former manor complex are located by the river bridge in Dmosin. They include a surviving brick mill from the 1920s and the ruins of the manor house. The larch-wood manor house burned down in spring 2002. The mill and the manor house thus tell different chapters of the complex’s history: the mill is described as a surviving structure, while only ruins remain of the manor house. The details about the materials and condition help distinguish the two remains rather than treating them as one historic building.
DinoPark Kołacinek in the municipality
In the municipality, DinoPark Kołacinek adds fairy tales, prehistory and geological history to the area’s local history themes. The educational fairy-tale trail “Bajkowa Ścieżka” features figures from fairy tales. The Mesozoic trail has life-size dinosaur figures; it also presents the lives of dinosaurs and specimens of trees and plants in the historic park. The two trails have different emphases: one features fairy-tale characters, while the other focuses on dinosaurs and plant life.
The interactive exhibition “Świat Prehistorii” in the 3D hall is visited with a guide. Its themes and settings include a dinosaur tunnel, a volcano and a Pteranodon nest. Another exhibition, “Świat Lodu,” provides information about Pleistocene mammals and the Ice Age. It therefore focuses on a different period from the Mesozoic trail.
The geological and paleontological exhibition features fossils millions of years old. The specimens mentioned include ammonites, trilobites, sponges and belemnites; halite from the Kłodawa salt mine is also on display. The DinoPark’s themes also differ within geological history: dinosaurs and plants on the Mesozoic trail, the Ice Age and Pleistocene in “Świat Lodu,” and fossils in the geological and paleontological exhibition. Check current visiting opportunities before your visit.
