Stryszów can be explored during a hotel stay through its cultural history and a named circular route. The manor house, a branch of the Muzeum Zamku Królewskiego na Wawelu, and the Church of St. John Cantius are two distinct cultural and historical highlights; the Pętla wokół Stryszowa is a 7.0 km circular route. Stryszów is also on the Kraków–Zakopane railway line.

Manor House: Exhibition and Polychrome

The manor house in Stryszów is a branch of the Muzeum Zamku Królewskiego na Wawelu. It houses the permanent exhibition “Wnętrza dworu polskiego w wieku XIX” (Interiors of a Polish Manor House in the 19th Century). The title draws attention to the interiors of a Polish manor house in the 19th century. A polychrome painting from the first half of the 18th century is also located on the upper floor. This brings together two distinct cultural and historical periods: the 19th century named in the exhibition title and the older polychrome painting. If you plan to visit the manor house, check the latest visitor information beforehand.

Church of St. John Cantius

The new brick Church of St. John Cantius was completed in 1742. It was built on the site of a wooden church that burned down in 1739; the two events were three years apart. The main benefactor of the new building was Kazimierz Wilkoński herbu Odrowąż, owner of Stryszów. The main altar and the two side altars are late Baroque and date from around the middle of the 18th century. A painting of Saint John Cantius from the early 17th century crowns the main altar. It is considerably older than the late Baroque altars and the church building completed in 1742; the building’s history and furnishings thus represent different historical layers. The church combines architectural, historical and landscape values.

The stone roadside figures in Stryszów include a statue of Saint Adalbert from 1768, a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1814, and a Pietà from 1826. All three dates are later than the approximate period when the altars were made, adding later examples of religious art to the history of the building and its furnishings. The roadside figures, too, were not all created in a single year: 58 years separate the 1768 statue from the 1826 Pietà, while the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1814 falls between them.

Circular Route and Travel Planning

The Pętla wokół Stryszowa circular route between Stryszów and Łękawica is 7.0 km long. This stated distance gives you a specific figure to plan your own outing; check current route conditions before setting off.
