Ostrów Królewski can be understood through two distinct local themes: the historic stone chapel and the Lawenda Fioletowe Pole lavender plantation. The plantation represents a cultivated lavender site on the edge of the forest; the chapel adds a cultural and historical dimension. You can decide whether to include plant cultivation, a historic building, or both in your travel plans.

Lavender on the Edge of the Forest

Lawenda Fioletowe Pole is a small lavender plantation in Ostrów Królewski, established in 2019. More than 1,300 shrubs of narrow-leaved and intermediate lavender varieties grow on the plantation. Its location on the edge of the forest provides a landscape setting for the plants.

Activities and a Past Event

The plantation offers photo shoots and workshops for children, adults, and organised groups. These are different formats: a photo shoot is not a workshop, and the workshops are intended for several specifically named groups. If you would like to include one of these activities in your travel plans, check in advance whether it will take place on your preferred date and how participation is arranged.

One clearly time-limited example was a two-day event on 5 and 6 September 2026, from 14:00 to 18:00 each day. The programme for those dates included walks around the plantation, a workshop on making sachets with dried lavender, and tastings of lavender products such as syrup and biscuits. This programme related to the event on the dates specified, which has since passed; it does not imply that the event will be repeated. If you plan to visit for a particular programme item, confirm its availability for your travel date in advance.

Historic Chapel

A second perspective on the place is offered by the historic stone chapel, which contains a statue of the Virgin Mary. The municipality reported a comprehensive renovation in 2024. The lavender plantation represents plant cultivation, while the historic stone chapel with its statue of the Virgin Mary represents religious cultural heritage; the two therefore offer different points of interest in the area.

The Wider Landscape

In the immediate area around the destination, in the Sołectwo Jodłówka, lies the Jodłowski Forest. It is part of the forest complexes of the Bratucicki Obszar Chronionego Krajobrazu. The protected area covers 16,495 hectares and extends across parts of the Rzezawa municipality, including part of Jodłówka, as well as part of the Bochnia municipality in Powiat bocheński. It also includes the municipalities of Szczurowa, Borzęcin, and Brzesko in the neighbouring Powiat brzeski to the east. The Jodłowski Forest in Jodłówka is a forest complex within the 16,495-hectare protected area, which extends across parts of several municipalities in the two powiats.
