Szubin: Museums, Mural and Places to Visit
Accommodation in Szubin
A stay in Szubin can be planned around specific cultural themes: museum objects, architectural history, a mural, and nearby destinations with their own distinct focus. These places differ not only in their themes, but also in their locations.
Museums and Art in Szubin
The Muzeum Ziemi Szubińskiej has been in existence since 1993 and took over the traditions and collections of the Izba Pamięci Narodowej. The museum objects are assigned to the History, Ethnography, and Art departments. Historical, ethnographic, and artistic perspectives are therefore presented side by side. The museum is housed in the historic Dom Polski, built in 1912 with funds from the Polish population. The dates belong to two different stories: 1993 refers to the museum, while 1912 refers to the construction of Dom Polski.
The Muzeum Wodnik was founded by Roman Berendt. This adds a second, independent museum history to the traditions and collections taken over by the Muzeum Ziemi Szubińskiej.
A different cultural motif can be seen in a mural in Szubin: a Pałuki folk music group in traditional dress stands in front of a wooden hut. Unlike the museum objects arranged by subject, the mural captures a single scene. It adds a specific motif featuring traditional dress and folk music to the view of history and art.
Places to Visit Nearby
In Brzózki, fifteen angels' chapels form the symbolic, spiritual and artistic trail “Anielska Droga Brzózek.” The number makes the trail's structure tangible, while its spiritual and artistic classification identifies its symbolic theme. This destination therefore differs from the museums in Szubin, whose collections are organized by subject area.
At Alpakowy Ogród in Stary Jarużyn, visitors can meet, pet, and feed alpacas and other animals. Visits require advance notice and a specific time; arrange your appointment directly in advance. Animal encounters and making an appointment are the focus here.
The Szklany Tur Museum, dedicated to the history of glassmaking, is located in a village outside the town of Szubin and therefore in the surrounding area. It displays products from the glassworks, tools, archival photographs, and documents. The selection combines finished products with work tools, as well as visual and written materials. This thematic focus differs from the three departments of the Muzeum Ziemi Szubińskiej: there, history, ethnography, and art are presented side by side, while the exhibits at the Szklany Tur Museum relate to glassmaking.
Find Hotels in Szubin
When looking for a hotel in Szubin, you can also take the locations of these places into account. The Muzeum Ziemi Szubińskiej, the Muzeum Wodnik, and the mural are in Szubin; Brzózki, Stary Jarużyn, and the Szklany Tur Museum are outside the town, in the surrounding area. This allows you to consider whether your stay should focus mainly on Szubin itself or also include nearby themes.
