Xoxocotla brings together several interests for a stay: activities at Playa Ejidal, water skiing and wakeboarding at Acuaski, local culture, and nearby Lago de Tequesquitengo. If you’re looking for a hotel, first consider what matters most to you: water sports, the community-focused project at Playa Ejidal, or cultural insights.

Water activities at Playa Ejidal

At Playa Ejidal Xoxocotla, you can swim, take walks, water-ski, and go on boat trips. This brings water activities and walks together at the same beach. At the same time, Playa Ejidal is an ecotourism and reforestation project with the direct participation of Xoxocotla’s Indigenous community. This participation shapes the project alongside its recreational activities. If you don’t want to choose an outing based on just one sport, you can consider water activities, a walk, and the project’s community focus together here.

The entrance to Playa Ejidal is on the shore of Lago de Tequesquitengo. From the “Las Alas” intersection, the directions lead left and then continue for one kilometer to the entrance.

Playa Ejidal also offers a temazcal, massages, and a botanical interpretation center. As these offerings may change, check in advance whether each one will be available during your visit.

Acuaski and the nearby lake

Another place for water sports is Acuaski, a water-skiing and wakeboarding school or resort. It is located on the road from Xoxocotla to Tequesquitengo, kilometer 1.5, in the El Faro neighborhood of Xoxocotla. Acuaski and Playa Ejidal both offer water skiing; Acuaski also offers wakeboarding, while Playa Ejidal also offers swimming, walks, and boat trips. Services and operations may change. Check in advance for current offerings. Their locations are also different: Acuaski is on the road, while the entrance to Playa Ejidal is on the shore of Lago de Tequesquitengo.

Lago de Tequesquitengo is nearby. Water sports such as water skiing, boat trips, swimming, and diving are available there. On dives, you can see the underwater remains of the church in the former town. This gives diving in the lake a specific historical connection alongside its sporting appeal.

Local culture and festival dates

Traditional dances and patron-saint festivals are part of Xoxocotla’s local culture. The Carnaval de La Puchina is a celebration that represents the town. A street parade featuring emblematic figures in a symbolic performance was announced for March 3 and 4, 2025. If the Carnaval is important to your travel plans, check the specific event date in advance.
