For a trip to Tijuana, culture, city history, science and regional experiences offer a range of thematic starting points. Each institution and activity has its own focus. Looking at their themes and intended audiences can help you organize your interests as you plan your trip.

Culture and Exhibitions at CECUT

The Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) opened on October 20, 1982. It is dedicated to producing and promoting cultural and artistic expressions in northwestern Mexico, as well as sharing the historical, artistic and cultural heritage of Mexico and the world. The Centro Cultural Tijuana has 15 exhibition spaces, including two permanent exhibition spaces. These figures describe the center as a whole; El Cubo is a separate exhibition area within it. It has three galleries with a combined area of more than 1,500 m² and has hosted more than 100 exhibitions. This helps distinguish CECUT’s broader cultural remit from the specific details about El Cubo: the number of exhibition spaces refers to the center, while the galleries and floor area refer to El Cubo.

City History and Science

The Museo de Historia de Tijuana opened in November 2010. It is dedicated to preserving and sharing Tijuana’s heritage and history. Its permanent exhibition celebrates the city, its history and its residents. It also presents the city’s natural and urban landscape, its economic and social life, and its artistic and sporting expressions. In this way, it offers a look at several facets of Tijuana: from the lives of its residents to the landscapes and forms of expression that are part of the city’s history. Casa de la Cultura Tijuana was declared a state cultural heritage site in 2014.

El Trompo offers a different perspective: this interactive museum teaches science and technology to children from Tijuana, their families and visitors to the city. Experiments are intended to help people apply scientific concepts to everyday life and better understand the world. Those interested in learning about science through hands-on experiments will find a clear focus here, distinct from the city-history orientation of the Museo de Historia.

Parque Morelos and Regional Experiences

Parque Morelos is in eastern Tijuana. Its main entrance is on Bulevar Insurgentes, between Avenida O’Higgins and Paseo del Parque. The park offers themed tours for schools that include the UMA and an interactive farm. The tours are therefore a school-focused offering; their stated content includes both the UMA and the farm.

Regional themes also add to the range of options. The Ruta de las Flores connects flower-growing ranches in Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito and offers an agrotourism experience. Rancho Casian is a rodeo venue in Tijuana on the Tijuana–Rosarito highway. The CBX connection is also relevant for travel planning: it links Tijuana International Airport directly to a terminal in San Diego, California. These examples differ significantly in focus—from flower growing and agrotourism to rodeo and a connection between an airport and a terminal.
