The Réserve faunique Mastigouche covers 65% of the municipality and is accessible via a well-maintained road network. On hikes, you can discover the attractions of this vast natural area. For day fishing, about 75 lakes are available there; a boat is provided at most lakes. Since seasonal availability may vary, check what is offered for your planned date. No reservation is required to access the reserve. You can obtain an access permit at reception or online.

The Festival de la Truite Mouchetée offers another fishing opportunity. During the 2026 festival, visitors can fish without a licence from the prepared shores of Lac Saint-Alexis-des-Monts or from a boat without a gas motor. Rules may change from one edition to the next, so check the regulations for your chosen date.

Every summer, La truite géante is displayed on Lac Saint-Alexis; the artwork can be viewed from the Terrasse Exina at the tourism information office. The sculpture was commissioned in 2002 by the Comité Touristique and created by local artist Pierre Meunier. It is 4.3 m long and 2.1 m high. Its seasonal display and the specific viewing opportunity from the terrace make it a cultural landmark in summer.

Local Activities and Culture

For snow activities, Saint-Alexis-Des-Monts lends snowshoes free of charge to adults and children; rental conditions may apply. The municipality provides snow tubes in the park in the town centre. The two offerings differ in both equipment and location: snowshoes are lent out, while the tubes are available in the central park.
