Coaticook: Nature, Culture and Unique Experiences
Accommodation in Coaticook
Coaticook brings together marked mountain biking trails, playful experiences, a nighttime light trail and cultural offerings. If you’re looking for hotels in Coaticook, it helps to first decide which experiences you want to shape your trip: nature and outdoor activities, special productions or culture.
Nature and Water Activities
Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook has 23 kilometres of marked mountain biking trails, ranging in difficulty from beginner to expert. Mountain biking is therefore a distinct focus: the trails are marked and cater to different skill levels. If you’re planning to cycle, you can use this information to help choose a route.
Aquaticook also offers a clearly defined experience: the canoe-kayak route consists of three sections, with one launch point at Parc Denis-Marcoux de Coaticook. At Mont Pinacle in Baldwin, single and double kayaks and pedal boats are available for rent seven days a week. These are two different types of water activities: a route with several sections and the rental of specific types of boats. When planning, you can decide whether you’re more interested in a route or a rental boat.
The landscape also shapes the scenery at Mont Pinacle in Baldwin: at the summit, a sheer rock face drops steeply into Lac Lyster. This natural feature adds a distinct perspective on the surroundings to the information about cycling and water activities. Landscape, routes and boat rentals are different aspects of trip planning; you can prioritize them according to your interests.
Playful Experiences and Nighttime Productions
Foresta Lumina at Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook is an illuminated nighttime trail featuring scenography, lighting and projection illusions. It was designed and created by Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook and Moment Factory. Unlike the marked mountain biking trails, this experience centres on a specially staged trail with lights and projections.
Acoatica at Parc Découverte nature combines indoor and outdoor stations in an interactive adventure. Through a variety of games, visitors try to achieve the biggest possible fish-school score. Each visitor receives a wristband linked to their team profile. The stations, game objective and team profile give this experience a different structure from a trail defined by light and scenography.
Glo Golf Aventures is an 18-hole miniature golf course in a decommissioned church. Oversized 3D decorations and ultraviolet lighting are part of the course design. Coaticook therefore offers a range of playful experiences: an interactive adventure with a game objective, a miniature golf course in a former church and a nighttime trail featuring light and projection effects.
Local History and Culture
La Grande Échappée – Odyssée Urbaine is a theatrical walking tour through downtown Coaticook. It starts at Microbrasserie Hop Station and is produced by Traces & Souvenances. It features historical, unusual or fictional stories from Coaticook’s history. The tour thus combines a walk through downtown with a variety of storytelling.
Musée Beaulne is housed in Château Arthur-Osmore-Norton (1845–1919). Alongside the theatrical walking tour, the museum offers another way to experience culture and history: here the focus is a museum in a château, while the tour features stories about the city.
A Sweet Treat in Town
Laiterie de Coaticook operates an ice cream parlour right in town, with a variety of sweet treats for children and adults. This adds a culinary focus to the offerings of nature, outdoor activities and culture. As you plan, you can choose among the different experiences based on what interests you most about Coaticook.
