York offers a variety of things to explore: railway history, walking and cycling trails, and horticulture. Specific places and offerings in York include the former railway station, the Confederation Trail, Veseys Seeds Ltd. and Wintermoor Orchard.

Railway Heritage and the Confederation Trail

The former York railway station is a rare surviving example of this type of railway station on Prince Edward Island. It is next to the Confederation Trail, the island’s former railway line. The trail runs through York and is best explored on foot or by bicycle. This gives visitors two different ways to experience railway history in York: the preserved station as an architectural example, and the former railway line as a route for walkers and cyclists.

Display Gardens, Shop Visits and Cider

At Veseys Seeds Ltd., visitors can stroll through the vegetable and flower display gardens. The York shop welcomes visitors year-round and offers tried-and-tested seeds, gardening supplies and tools, as well as a wide selection of locally made products.

At Wintermoor Orchard, opening periods vary by offering: U-pick is open from early September to early November, while the cider made on the farm is available year-round. Wintermoor Orchard also invites visitors to enjoy a picnic, offers plenty of space to relax, and provides a clean washroom. If you’re planning a visit specifically for U-pick, check the seasonal dates before you travel.
