The History of Fairhaven United Baptist Church
On July 14, 1868, Elders William Brown and Freeman Babcock founded a Free Will Baptist Church in Fairhaven with nine members. The church building was completed in 1884. On November 13, 1904, the congregation unanimously voted to join the Maritime Baptist Union, becoming Fairhaven United Baptist Church.
In 1951, the church was moved from a site near the old cemetery to its current location on donated land and extended by 27 feet. During the renovations, the congregation met at the Victoria Hall Auditorium. The first service in the renovated building was held on December 30, 1951. A stained-glass window dedicated to Frank Wentworth was installed in 1957.
