Cold Lake combines beach activities at Kinosoo Beach with sports and recreational opportunities. A paved trail runs from one end of the city to the other and meets the Heritage Trail in Cold Lake North. The Cold Lake Museums, with their individual buildings, and the Cold Lake Marina also each add their own distinct features. This gives you different ways to get to know Cold Lake: beaches and events, trails through the city, or a museum visit.

Kinosoo Beach: Beach and Summer Activities

Kinosoo Beach is Cold Lake’s summer hub. The sandy beach features a splash park, beach volleyball and basketball courts, floating docks, and walking paths. There is also a concession stand. This brings together several options in one place: activities on the courts, time at the beach, and paths for a walk.

A special attraction is the zipline that runs out over the water at the beach. Riders can let go and drop into the lake. Depending on the time of year, public events and performances are also held at Kinosoo Beach. The program varies by season, so checking specific event dates is important when planning.

Millennium Trail: Paved Route Through Cold Lake

The Millennium Trail is 11 kilometres long, paved, and runs from one end of the city to the other. It is frequently used by runners, cyclists, and people walking dogs, and it is also used for community walks. In Cold Lake North, it connects with the Heritage Trail. The Millennium Trail also runs along the lakeshore between the Cold Lake Marina and Kinosoo Beach. Its length, use, and route each provide a distinct way to orient yourself in the area: as a city-wide route, as a connection to another trail, and as a path between two named points along the lakeshore.

Cold Lake Museums in Separate Buildings

The Cold Lake Museums are a group of individual museums with varied themes, housed in separate buildings. A covered walkway connects the buildings. A museum visit therefore includes a group of buildings rather than a single exhibition building; the covered walkway is a specific part of how they are connected.

A tour of the Cold Lake Museums gives visitors and their families an interesting way to learn about history. At the Cold Lake Air Force Museum, visitors can view radar equipment. There is both the history-focused learning offered by the tour and a specific exhibit to see at the Air Force Museum. Seasonal museum opening dates may change.

Finding Your Way Around the Cold Lake Marina

A double boat launch is located beside the office on the southeast side of the Cold Lake Marina. This description provides two reference points within the marina area: its southeast side and the office. The boat launch is a specific facility whose location can be identified on site.

Check Dates and Operating Hours Before Your Trip

If beach activities or a museum visit are a set part of your travel plans, check the relevant event dates and seasonal opening dates. Confirm that the zipline is operating before your trip. This lets you plan around the seasonal offerings at Kinosoo Beach and a possible museum visit, while the length and route of the Millennium Trail provide another way to orient yourself in the area.
