History and culture
Historic sites offer a different perspective on South Eleuthera from the coast and water sports. The South Eleuthera Mission Building was originally built around 1830 as a Methodist parsonage and is under the oversight of the Antiquities and Monuments Corporation. The ruins of Miller Plantation are in Bannerman Town. Hotel CTI is also connected to the region’s history: it is housed in a building that was once the Rock Sound Club. The One Eleuthera Foundation partially restored the building in 2015/2016 to preserve Eleuthera’s history. These sites differ in form: a historic building under institutional oversight, plantation ruins, and a partially restored former club building.
