If you are looking for a hotel in IJsselmuiden, the cycling routes, hiking trails and historical connections can help structure your trip planning. The routes vary in starting point, length and theme. This lets you decide whether to focus on a cycling loop, transport history, or the churches and their architectural history.

Cycling: Starting Points and Route Lengths

The “Rondje Kampereiland en Mandjeswaard” cycling route starts at the beginning of Frieseweg in IJsselmuiden and runs along the mouth of the IJssel. From Zwolle, it can be reached by train via the Kamperlijntje railway line. This makes the starting point, the river mouth and a train connection from Zwolle useful reference points for your planning.

A second cycling route is the “Pontjesroute IJsseldelta: Kampen.” It starts in the center of IJsselmuiden at junction 45 and forms a figure eight. The northern loop is 24 kilometers long and the southern loop is 28 kilometers; they cross at junction 45. The northern loop is therefore four kilometers shorter. The route is also part of a series of four Pontjesroutes in the IJsseldelta. When planning, you can compare the first route’s train access with the two stated loop lengths of the second.

Hiking Trails with a Historical Focus

Published in 2025, the “Mobiel en Maritiem Erfgoed Kampen” hiking route leads from the city bridge in three directions to places in Kampen and IJsselmuiden. There, ships, cars and trains, as well as the transport of people and goods over the centuries, illustrate the area’s maritime and mobile heritage. The route thus combines directions with a specific theme in transport history.

The Scherenwellepad runs along the edge of IJsselmuiden, following the former tow canal connection between Kampen and Zwolle. The two hiking trails therefore have different focuses: the “Mobiel en Maritiem Erfgoed Kampen” route highlights places and transport history, while the Scherenwellepad follows the course of a former connection between the cities.

Churches and Organ History

The Dorpskerk IJsselmuiden, also known as St. Crispin’s Church, is the oldest building in IJsselmuiden. The R.K. Kerk IJsselmuiden was built in 1919 to a design by J. Stuyt. The R.K. Kapel in IJsselmuiden was built in 1889 to a design by Amsterdam architect A.C. Boersma. The two construction dates are 30 years apart. The history of the Verhofstadt organ in IJsselmuiden begins in 1885, adding another point of interest to the architectural history.

The WSV IJsselmuiden Harbor

The WSV IJsselmuiden harbor has around 80 berths, some of which are available to passing boaters. Toilets, showers, electricity and Wi-Fi are available throughout the harbor. Check the current availability of berths and harbor facilities before your trip.
