Warnsveld brings together local history, time outdoors and traditional baking. When planning your trip, you can organise these themes around different interests: mills and the church tower provide historical reference points, Trefpark and Landgoed ’t Velde are associated with outdoor activities, and the Bakkerij Museum combines traditional baking with an opportunity to take a break. Whether you are particularly interested in mill history, a walk, cycling or coffee with pastries, you can choose the focus of your stay accordingly.

Mills and history

The Nooit Gedacht mill in Warnsveld has been in existence since 1850. The Warkense Molen was built in 1878 on a natural rise in the hamlet of Warken. This brings two mills and two construction dates into view, but their locations differ: Nooit Gedacht is in Warnsveld, while the Warkense Molen is in Warken. Together, they provide local and historical reference points for exploring the history of mills.

The tower of Sint-Martinuskerk on the Berkel and Warnsveld Route dates from the 11th century. A document from 1121 mentions a church in Warnsveld; however, the present-day Martinuskerk is not the building referred to there. The tower’s date and the mention in the document are therefore two distinct historical reference points.

Signs with black footprints mark the Berkel and Warnsveld Route. Along the route there is also an old burial ground, laid out in the style of an English landscape garden and surrounded by a ditch. Alongside the church tower, it is another historical point of interest on the route.

Time outdoors

At Trefpark in Warnsveld, you can play, go for a walk and have a picnic. Landgoed ’t Velde and its surroundings form an area for walking and cycling. The difference is clear when choosing activities: at Trefpark, you can play, walk and picnic; at the estate and its surroundings, you can hike and cycle.

Kapperbos lies at the built-up edge of Warnsveld. It consists of younger beech woodland and birch carr woodland. Alongside the activities mentioned, the specific composition of a woodland area is another nature-related feature to explore.

Traditional baking and a break

The Bakkerij Museum has an authentic, working bread oven that is fired using traditional methods, including with bundles of brushwood. The oven’s working condition and the way it is fired provide a technical and traditional perspective on baking.

The nostalgic shop offers a range of baked goods and regional products. Visitors can enjoy coffee with traditional krentenwegge or a soft drink. This makes it easy to combine your visit with a specific choice: coffee with krentenwegge or a soft drink, complemented by the shop’s offerings.
